The Monsters Lurking

There she was
The midnight girl,
They call her
She looked off in the distance,
At the edge of the cliff.
The midnight bell just about to ring
As something crept behind her.
"Out of sight out of mind,"
They say to her
They don't know what happens though
She whispers to herself,
"They're coming, they're coming to get me"
She slowly increased the volume of her voice
The figure moving behind her grew,
Bigger and bigger, scarier and scarier
The creature grew to ten feet tall
Then something odd happens
The monster of the night multiplied,
Becoming five medium sized monsters.
They growled, deeply and loudly.
No one heard,
No one saw,
But the girl of the night did.
She was petrified,
Couldn't move,
Couldn't yell out.
She just stood there,
Watching the demonic creatures before her eyes.
They surrounded her,
All around as she stood in fear.
She looked back at the town below the cliff.
'Such a peaceful town, too bad I won't see it again'
She thought as she looked back at the monsters.

The town,
Doing the same routine as everyday,
Never saw what happened with this girl.
She was too strange in the little town.
They never understood her,
From when she moved there a year ago.
A faint scream was heard by the top of the cliff.
No one heard, it was too faint of a sound.

They wouldn't notice her disappearance.
None of them would,
Except one person.
The only person who tried to get to know the girl.
The only person who would miss her,
The only one who would know of her disappearance.
The two got along so well,
The two odd ones in a town of normal people.

Now people say there is no such thing as a normal person,
But this town knew it was real.
They tried to keep the odd ones out,
To be normal.
Everyone was the same,
Everyone looked the same,
Everyone acted the same.
So you can say there was no normal
But they were.
Until this happened.

The death of the midnight girl let the monsters be free.
They invaded the town,
Destroying everything,
And anything in sight.
Ruining the minds of people around them,
All but the girls' best friend.
The girl of the night forbid the monsters from hurting the person.
The monsters still followed what she had said.
In fear of the persons demons fighting them.

They all had their demons,
But only the two friends saw their demons.
But the town was too blind to see theirs.
They couldn't fight the monsters that lurk around the town.
They didn't have the experience to do that.
So the all the people lived in fear.
All the town hid from it.
All but that girl's friend,
Who knew how to fight them.
They couldn't defeat them,
But they could hold the monsters off.
Until they couldn't handle it forever.
They had to give in at one point.

The people thought the girl of the night was the burden of this.
They thought she was the one to make the monsters get them.
But the friend knew that it wasn't,
The person knew it was the monsters themselves that came on their own.
