SUPERIMPOSE
i. Open your gradient image as the background and your image of your subject as the foreground. Turn the saturation down to your desire.

ii. Adjust the contrast under the filter tab to your desire as well. I always try and have the edges of my image as dark as possible so it blends into my background better.

iii. Use the soft brush to erase areas that you don't want around your subject. Merge when you are done.

iv. Upload a white image as the foreground. Erase all of it and then make your brush as small as possible. Use the brush to sketch out areas on the face or anywhere on your subject that you want. This step is optional of course.
