Chapter Two
I stared at the Hokage and the Hokage stared back at me. Naruto wasn’t wrong, the man was old. Hiruzen Sarutobi…I heard the name before. And not only once.
“So, Lily was it?”
I just kept staring at him. I ditched the cloak and my long braided black hair was now fully visible along with my red vest that reached right above my bellybutton and had a high collar. My stomach was wrapped in bandages-just in case. I also bandaged my hands up to my elbows with finders sticking out. I preferred shorts because they were the easiest to move around in-and they were also red. And then there were the standard Shinobi sandals.
“So, you’re not going to tell me anything else?”
“I will only speak to Anko Mitarashi.”
I saw the old man eyeing Kakashi. He was at the back of the room with the team. Their eyes were fixed on me. Everyone was waiting for me to spill but I just sat there calmly facing the Hokage.
“And is there a particular reason to why you won’t talk to anyone but her?”
“I thought I made it clear. I’ll only talk to Anko Mitarashi.”
The old man sighed and blew his pipe. The smoke was annoying me. I looked away so the it wouldn’t get into my eyes. I just happened to look at the pictures of the past Hokages. The first one was weird, the second overrated, the third old and…I stared at those blue eyes that looked just like mine.
“A fool with a genius gene planted inside him,” I repeated my Uncle’s words.
They all stared at me. The third blew his pipe and looked from the pictures to me.
“I recon you’re not talking about me.”
“You don’t seem like a genius. Now, can I speak to Anko Mitarashi.”
“I sent word for her right when you arrived. It’s all a matter of time, you should be patient.”
“I don’t mind waiting,” I said and turned back to him, “I just have an urgent message. I was thinking maybe you’d be able to understand it but I trust only Anko.”
“Message, huh? Well, I wonder who’d trust a child to send a message.”
“I know all the manipulation tricks, old man so save your breath.”
He was about to say something else when the door slid open and Anko came strolling in. “There was a message that a kid wanted to see me? So, let’s get this over with, shall we…” She took one glanced at me and skidded to a halt. I personally think Anko is too loud but I trust her. Wish I could say vice versa.
“You…” she said through narrow eyes.
“I come in peace and I have something urgent to tell you.”
“Nothing you can’t say in front of the Hokage.”
“Maybe, maybe not. But I can’t say it in front of them.” I pointed at the four pairs of ears listening sharply.
“Fine, all of you are excused,” said the Hokage but he didn’t move an inch. The others left the room, Kakashi sliding the door behind him. I raised a hand when Anko tried to say something.
“They’re still at the door.”
When I was sure they gave up eavesdropping I looked at Anko.
“Can I trust the old man?”
“You know who he is. You knew from the start. I can’t believe you dare show your face in here. The last time I saw you, you were…”
“Getting this ring,” I said and raised my left hand. There was a slate blue ring on my little finger with the symbol kū (空, meaning sky) on it. That immediately got the attention from the old man and he actually set down his pipe.
