1.9 Zoro On Horse

Suddenly we heard a gunshot.
 
I froze and looked around "You heard that?"
 
Glenn shrugged „It's probably nothing"
 
Mom "come on, Ken. "
 
I looked to her and started walking again.

Mom suddenly stopped.
 
We all stopped.
 
Andrea" you worrying about it?"
 
Mom "it was a gunshot"
 
i nodded.
 
Daryl "We all heard it"
 
Mom asked confused "Why one? Why just one gunshot?"
 
Daryl shrugged "maybe they took down a walker"
 
Mom shook her head „Rick wouldn't waste a bullet to put down a walker. Nor would Shane. They would do it quiet."
 
Carol asked confused "Shouldn't they have caught up with us by now?"
 
Daryl "there is nothing we could do about it anyway. Can't run around the woods chasing after them"
 
Me "So what do we do now?"
 
Daryl "Search the woods for Sophia while walking back to the highway"
 
Andrea "I'm sure that they will meet us back at the RV"
 
I just walked again.
The others didn't move but i didn't care.

Daryl "We will run out of light before we go any further"
 
Me "I think we should stop"
 
Mom "Let's head back"
 
Carol "Will we continue tomorrow?"
 
Mom nodded „Yeah, we will find her tomorrow"
 
We turned around and began to walk again.
 
Mom "How much further?"
 
Daryl shook his head   "not much. Maybe a hundred yards. "
 
Suddenly we heard Andrea scream. We looked around but she was gone. I ran in that direction. Andrea was screaming on the ground. I took my knife out and cut the walker's head in two.
 
Suddenly I heard a horse. A woman rid over to us with a baseball bat in her hand.
 
Woman "Lori Grimes?."
 
The others caught up to us.
 
Mom nodded „I'm Lori"
 
Woman "Rick sent me..you need to come."
 
Mom asked confused „What?"
 
Woman "There's been an accident, Carl's been shot. He's still alive but you need to come with me. Rick needs you. Just come!"
 
Mom looked at me.
 
My jaw dropped "G-go?"
 
Mom took her back bag off.
 
Daryl tried to stop her "You don't know this girl. You can't get on that horse."
 
Woman "Rick said you had others on the highway. Back track to Fairban road. Two miles down, you see the mailbox. Name's Greene. "
 
Mom got on the horse and they took off.
 
I was panicking "What the hell did just happen?!"
 
They all looked at me.
 
Glenn "Carl's been shot"
 
Me "We need to go back on that damn highway. Now!"
 
Then i ran in the direction.

I arrived on the highway as the sun was about to go down.
 
Dale asked confused "What happened? Ken?!"
 
I shook my head "not now, Dale"
 
Dale "Kendall"
 
I yelled  "Carl's been shot!"
 
Dale froze "shot? What do you mean 'shot'?"
 
The others showed up.
 
Glenn shrugged "I don't know, Dale. i wasn't there. All i know that this chick came out of nowhere like Zorro on horse and took Lori"
 
Dale asked Daryl "and you let her?"
 
Daryl "Rick sent her. She knew Lori's name and Carl's"
 
I walked away and I sat down on a hood. I crossed my legs and put my elbows on my knees and put my head on my hands.
 
This cannot be happening right now.
 
Tears rolled down my cheek.
 
Suddenly i heard a voice "You okay?"
 
It was Daryl.
 
I wiped my tears away and looked at him "yeah, sure"
 
Daryl "We decided that we're gonna leave a message for Sophia on one of the cars, in case she comes back. We are going to stay here the night. "
 
I nodded and climbed down the hood "I am going alone"
 
Daryl put an arm around to stop me from walking away "The hell you are"
 
I looked up at him "He's my brother, Daryl"
 
Daryl "Wait till tomorrow. Then we all can go together"
 
Me "What if he doesn't survive the night?"
 
Daryl took my wrist in his hands and looked me in the eyes "Hey, hey, hey ,hey. Don't think that. "
 
I looked at him and nodded "okay "
 
I nodded.
 
 
Night.
 
We were all laying around in the RV. Carol was sleeping in the bed. Andrea was sitting across from me and doing god knows what. I had my head against the window and my legs on the seat next to me. I wasn't even trying to sleep. We could hear Carol crying in the back. I was playing with Daryl's crossbow.
 
Suddenly Daryl stood up and walked to us.

He sighed annoyed, took the crossbow from my hands and put it over his shoulder. 

I whispered "Sorry"
 
He shook his head "didn't mean you"
 
Then looked at Carol and then back at me.
 
I nodded, whispering "Where are you going?"
 
Daryl whispered "looking for the girl"
 
I whispered "I'm coming with you"
 
Daryl shook his head, whispering „like hell you are"
 
I whispered "I need to take my mind off the fact that my brother could be dead by now"
 
Daryl shrugged, whispering  "Then count the stars or somethin'. "
 
I begged „Please?"
 
He looked at me and then sighed.
 
I smirked.
 
Daryl walked out with a flashlight.
 
I followed him with a flashlight.
 
Daryl nodded up to Dale who was sitting on the roof on watch "We are going for a walk. She's out there. "
 
Dale raised an eyebrow "You think that's a good idea right now?"
 
Me "I need to take my mind off on something, Dale"
 
He looked at me and gave in.
 
I started to walk into the woods.
 
Daryl followed me.
 
Me "You think she's still out here?"
 
Daryl flashed the flashlight in my face.
 
I grimaced from the light.

Daryl scoffed "You got that look on your face, just like everyone else"
 
Me "I am just telling the truth"
 
Daryl "She's still here"
 
Me "Why didn't you tell me that Glenn and T-dog already left for the farm?"
 
Daryl froze but then shrugged "Don't know"
 
I stopped walking.
 
He stopped and looked at me.
 
I nodded "Yes, you do"
 
He sighed. 
 
Then I started walking again "I think I know how she's feeling right now"
 
Daryl asked confused "who? Sophia?"
 
I nodded "yeah. Remember back at the CDC?"
 
He nodded.
 
Me "After that door closed...I was the only one outside and you and the others were still in there. I was scared."
 
He stopped and looked at me.
 
Me "I thought that's it. It's over. I was never going to see my family again. Never going see you again. "
 
He started to walk again.
 
Me "I heard you, you know?"
 
He stopped walking but didn't look at me.
 
Me "I heard how you yelled my name, hammered and slammed yourself against the door. How you attacked Jenner."
 
He looked at me and he had this look on his face.
 
Me "And you know what? I don't regret what happened that night at all."
 
Then I began to walk again.
 
I could hear him whisper "neither do i"
 
But i think i just imagined hearing that.
 
Suddenly i saw something yellow "Daryl"
 
I shined at the yellow thing. It was a tent.
 
He looked at me "I'm going in"
 
I nodded. He went in and then came out. He looked at me and shook his head. Suddenly we heard a groan. I turned around and shined around.
 
There was a walker hanging off the tree.
 
I groaned annoyed "You are joking, right?"
 
Daryl "sick bastard"
 
Me "What's that on his legs?"
 
I shined to his legs.
 
Daryl looked closer "The others came and ate all the flesh off his legs. He looks like a birth day ugly piñata"
 
Then he turned around to leave.
 
I looked at him confused "You don't wanna kill him?"
 
Daryl shrugged "He hurt nobody. I don't want to waste an arrow either. It was his choice. Let him hang"
 
I looked around for a knife. Something that i could throw at his head.
 
Daryl asked confused „What are you doing now?"
 
Me "I came out here to take my mind off. Now i am looking for a rock to throw it at its head. "
 
Daryl sighed and grabbed my wrist.
 
He offered me his crossbow.
 
I looked at him, surprised "thought you didn't want to waste an arrow?"
 
Daryl looked at me unhappily "just do it before i change my mind."
 
I took it.
 
It was quiet heavy.
 
Daryl "know how to use it?"
 
I nodded "kinda"
 
Then i aimed at the walker's head. It was heavy.
 
I could feel Daryl's arms around me and he helped me lift the crossbow up.
 
Then I pulled the trigger and the arrow hit the walker in the eye.
 
I turned my head to Daryl and noticed how close we were. Our noses were touching. His gaze wandered from my eyes to my lips.
 
Suddenly we heard a 'crack'. We jumped apart.
 
I looked around and called out "Sophia?"
 
Well, it was a walker. I took my knife out, walked to him and cut his head off his neck.
 
Then we started to walk back to the highway. It was silent. Ugly silent.
 
We arrived at the RV.
 
I walked in and laid down on the seat.
 
Daryl sat down in front of me and whispered "Try to sleep"
 
I yawned, shaking my head "don't think I can"
 
Daryl "Try"
 
Me "my bro's out there fighting for his life, Daryl, i won't be able to sleep now"
 
Daryl "And you won't help him by not sleeping either, girl"
 
I rolled my eyes and turned my back to him
