I kept reading until someone tapped me on the shoulder. I looked up and saw that it was Ruby. I guess she transferred into this class because she got bored in regular English.

"Hey, Ruby. Why are you in Ms. Mills' class? I thought you didn't like her."

"I don't," she leaned over to whisper in my ear, and said, " but I just want to keep you safe from the Evil Queen over there."

I laughed. "I think she likes me more than she'd like you anyway. Besides, I made a pie for her."

"Ooooh, you really like her don't you?" Ruby teased as she wiggled her eyebrows. I just laughed at her. Finally, the tardy bell rang and Ruby was still standing next to my desk.

Just then, we heard the clicking of Ms. Mills' heels. I quickly looked back down at my book as Ruby sat in the desk next to me.

"Ah. Ms. Lucas. I see you've decided to join my advanced English class. I hope you can keep up, and manage not to distract Ms. Carter from her work. She's doing very well in my class."

Ruby just laughed and I glared daggers at her. I looked up to see the brunette glaring at her as well. Ruby cleared her throat and said, "sorry Ms. Mills. It's just that Dani has only been going to school for a day."

Ms. Mills continued to glare at Ruby. Ruby looked over at me nervously, like she was silently asking for help. I just smirked as I continued reading.

"The next time you question anything that comes out of my mouth, you will be out of my class. Is that understood, Ms. Lucas?"

"Yes ma'am," Ruby said as she looked down at her desk.

"Alright. Did everyone finish last night's homework?" Ms. Mills asked.

I finished it of course. I had plenty of time to do that. It wasn't that hard anyway. Ms. Mills went around and collected everyone's paper. She started us on today's assignment and gave us the homework.

I finished everything in about twenty minutes, so I continued reading my book. This is the third time I've read it already. I got bored and looked over my book to watch Ms. Mills grade the papers. Of course, she smiled when she saw mine.

I felt a paper being shoved into my desk and I looked over at Ruby, who had a grin on her face. I rolled my eyes at her playfully, and looked down at the note.

'I think she likes you. ;)'

I looked over at her, then looked back down at the paper hiding behind my book. I figured I could at least write back.

'I don't think so, Rubes. Besides, she's probably taken. She probably wouldn't like me even if she was single.'

I stealthily slipped the note back to Ruby, who raised a brow when she read it. She wrote another note and passed it back.

'Oh, come on. I've seen the way you two make googly eyes at each other. You two should seriously get together."

This class just wouldn't go by fast enough. I wish I could get away from Ruby's attempt to be a matchmaker. So I slipped the note in my book and put it down.

"Ms. Mills," I whispered.

"Yes, Ms. Carter," she said, not looking up from the papers.

"May I use the restroom?"

She sighed, and said, "Yes, but hurry back."

I got up and made my way to the bathroom. I looked at myself in the mirror like I had yesterday. I noticed my fangs had retracted, but my eyes were still red. I stood there for a second, and walked out of the bathroom, and back to class. I sat down and five minutes later, the bell finally rang.

I got up and asked Ruby to wait for me. I walked over to Ms. Mills and set tonight's homework on her desk.

"Is it alright if I turn in the homework early?"

"Of course dear. You could've turned it in as soon as you were done with it."

"Oh. Alright. I guess I should be heading to class now."

I turned around and felt a wrist pull me back. I turned to see Ms. Mills with that look in her eyes again. I had no idea what to call it, but I knew it was there.

"I just wanted to thank you again. For bringing the pie. Actually, for making one for me at all. So, thank you."

I stared into her eyes for another second, and then I cleared my throat.

"Um, yeah. It was no trouble at all, really. I was happy to make it for you. Anyway, I'll meet you here after school?"

"I'll be here. I might be in my office. If I'm in there, just knock before you come in."

"Okay. I'll see you later, then."

I then walked out of the classroom and was met with a squealing Ruby. I looked at her like she was crazy. She looked so excited and her eyes were so wide I swear they could've popped out of her eye sockets. I'm surprised they didn't.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked her.

"Really?! Oh come on, Dani. I've seen her smile at you. I've already heard how she talks about you. You seriously don't like her?"

"Alright, fine. Maybe a little. It's not going to go anywhere though. Let's just talk about it later, okay Rubes?" I asked as I placed a hand on her shoulder and patted it.

"Alright fine."

She looked down at the floor and pouted for a second. We parted ways and went to our next class. In every class, I finished the homework quickly, and ended up just reading the same book over and over until the last class was over. Except in choir of course.

That class is actually fun because I get to sing. I already have a solo in the Christmas concert. I'm thinking of inviting Ms. Mills to come so she can hear me sing if she wants.

I'm already headed to her class. As soon as I get there, I open the door to see no one in the room just like this morning. So I walked over to her office door. It was closed, but I could see her through the little window. I stood there for a minute. She was finishing the last slice of pie I made. I knocked on the door, and heard a muffled "come in."

I opened the door, looked at the brunette and said "You didn't leave any for me?"

I immediately saw her eyes widen and I just laughed. She was chewing on the last mouthful of pie. "I'm just joking, you know," I said with a smile.

It was a smile that actually showed my teeth. For once, my fangs weren't out around her. She swallowed the mouthful of pie and just looked at me for a second. She then got up and said to me, "You smiled, really smiled. Why?"

"I guess the other ones were just nervous smiles. Anyway, are you, uh... ready to go?"

"I sure am. Let's head to my car," she said with one of her beautiful smiles.
