The rest of the day dragged on. I had mostly AP classes. I had AP Math with Mr. Gold,  AP Government with Mr. Nolan, Aerobics with Coach Scarlet, Advanced Animal Science with Mr. Glass, Choir with Ms. French, and of course we had a study period for homework. Aerobics, Animal Science, and Choir were the three electives I chose.

Most of the day was dull, except for lunch. I met this girl named Ruby. It suits her quite well. I mean she wears a lot of red. She even has red highlights in her dark brown hair. She also has a thing for wolves. She's a bit odd, but nice. She told me that she works at a diner in town called Granny's. Of course, her granny owns it.

I've heard a little bit about Ms. Mills from Ruby. She's apparently supposed to be a real bitch. But she didn't really bother me any. I told Ruby but she didn't really believe me. She then came to the conclusion that Ms. Mills has a crush on me. I doubt it, but that could be why her heart was beating so loud in class today.

I hope her heart isn't as loud when I see her again. Speaking of, I was actually on my way to her room now. I got to the door, and stood there for a moment, closing my eyes. I silently hoped I couldn't hear her beat so loudly, or the blood running through her veins. I hoped that maybe her scent of apples and cinnamon, but if not, I would just have to suck it up.

I opened the door, and immediately smelled apples and cinnamon. The scent was as strong as it was this morning. I looked around the room and saw Ms. Mills to be nowhere in the class. I figured maybe she has an office connecting to the classroom. I might as well sit down while I wait for her, so I took my usual seat right by her desk.

A couple minutes later, she walked in the room from what apparently was her office like I had assumed. She immediately looked over at me, walking over to her desk carrying a small stack of papers. In that same moment, I could hear her heart racing, just as loud as before.

I shot up from my seat and the brunette looked at, confused. My fangs came out again, and I was about to panic.

"Is there something wrong, dear?" She asked.

"Um... I, uh... need to use the restroom."

"Alright, well, don't be too long dear."

I ran straight to the door and nearly tore it off the hinges as I opened it. I finally got the bathroom and walked up to one of the sinks with a mirror above it. I looked at myself in the mirror. My fangs were out, and my eyes were red again. I straightened my shoulder length hair. It was strawberry blonde, with black tips. I'm not sure what's wrong with me, but I know it has something to do with Ms. Mills.

Maybe this was a bad idea. I thought I could go to school with humans. I thought I could control myself. I thought I'd be fine. But maybe it's just Ms. Mills I can't be around. I don't want her to think I don't like her, though. I do like her. Probably more than I should already.

It was going to be hard, but I had to go back to her room, and endure being around her scent. Mostly the sound of her loud, racing heartbeat. I didn't bother retracting my fangs, since they would just come back. That was fine though, because I can hide them with my lips and manage to speak without a lisp. There was nothing I could do about the eyes for now, until I got used to being around her.

I walked back to her room, and was about to open the door when I was met with the beautiful brunette looking right at me.

"Oh, Ms. Carter. I was about to see if you were alright. Come in."

"Thank you. I guess we should get started on those assignments. I'm sure it won't take me long to finish everything."

We both sat down and in half an hour, I had finished everything. Ms. Mills looked up at me. She looked a bit shocked.

"You're done already?" She asked.

"Yes... why?"

" Well, I've never seen anyone finish a week's work in half an hour."

"I'm very advanced. Ingrid taught me some, but I'm mostly self taught."

" Well. I suppose we have a few minutes to talk. Besides hiking, what else do you like to do?"

"I like to sing and dance. I also like animals. What about yourself?"

"Well, I like to cook. My favorite things to make are lasagna, Apple turnovers, and Apple pie. I also love to read."

"Maybe I should make some Apple pie for you, then," I smiled and added, "or you could show me your lasagna recipe sometime."

She laughed and said, "maybe I will."

We both looked at the time. I had to leave now, or I'd be late for my home and evening hunt with Ingrid. She didn't hunt. She just let me go after an animal if I happened to get thirsty.

Ms. Mills and I parted ways, and I soon got home to the cabin. I walked through the front door and sat next to Ingrid on the couch. She looked at me and said, "Danielle, I have to tell you something."

"What is it?" I asked with a hint of worry in my voice.

"I invited Ms. Mills over for dinner tomorrow night."
