"You invited her to dinner?!"

"Danielle I'm sorry. I just thought it would be good for you", Ingrid said.

"I can hear and smell anything a mile away. My eyes turn red when I smell her. My fangs come out and I can't retract them when I hear her loud heartbeat and the blood running through her veins. How could you think inviting Ms. Mills, of all people would be good for me?!"

"Danielle, that is no excuse. I know it's hard, but you need to learn to control yourself around her. I also told her that you'll be coming home with her."

"Fine. I don't see why I should even be here for dinner, but fine. I'll come with her tomorrow. I expect you'll want me to walk her from the road to the cabin then?"

"Yes, and try not to feed on her."

"I would never feed on her. I like her enough to not drain her and leave her to die."

"Good. I guess you should go to bed for a couple hours. Maybe shower too. Anyways, good night."

"Okay. Good night, Ingrid."

So I went and did as Ingrid told me. Of course, the only thing I thought about was having dinner with Ms. Mills. I was already out of the shower and drying my hair when I had an idea. Since she liked anything and everything to do with apples, I could make an Apple pie for her and bring it to school tomorrow. I only needed about three hours of sleep anyway. I have everything I need to make it in the kitchen.

I know exactly what to do when I wake up. So I laid down under the covers, and closed my eyes.

I woke up three hours later and got dressed. I went to the kitchen and gathered everything I would need to make an Apple pie. Ingrid usually doesn't mind when I'm up late and doing whatever. I'm usually very quiet anyway.

I started making the dough, and when I finished that, I started on the filling. I used the juice from the apples and used it in the filling. I got a bit curious, so I dipped a spoon in the filling and tasted it. Well, I know Ms. Mills is going to love this pie. I don't even need her recipe. Maybe it'll be better than one she could make.

As soon as the pie was done, I put it in fridge and started reading. I really had nothing else to do for three more hours. So I figured I would read one of those typical vampire books. They were good books, but sometimes I had to laugh at what they got wrong about  vampires.

Three hours later, I had finished an entire book series and was watching Ingrid eat breakfast. I didn't always need animal blood to survive, I could eat human good sometimes. I didn't do it very often, as it was a bit uncomfortable.

"Hey, Ingrid. I was wondering if you could drive me to school this morning. I've made an Apple pie for Ms. Mills and I don't want to take the chance of ruining it by just running to school myself."

"Sure, I'll drive you, Dani. You can go ahead to the car and wait for me."

"Thanks, Ingrid."

I got up and got the pie from the fridge. It was already cool enough. For a moment I wonder if I should bring a fork, knife, and plate just in case she doesn't have anything to eat it with. Or on, for that matter. I decided I would.

I grabbed the utensils from the drawers, and a plate from one of the cabinets. I also took some plastic wrap and wrapped it around the plate with the fork and knife on it, so they wouldn't get dirty. I also had plastic wrap on the pie.

With that, I slung my bag over my shoulder, grabbed the pie and the plate, and walked out front door of the cabin. It took about ten minutes to get to the car. Five minutes later, Ingrid got in the car and started driving to the school. It takes twenty minutes to get to the school when Ingrid drives me there.

I was about to get out of the car when Ingrid said to me, "Alright, Danielle. Have a good day. Make sure Ms. Mills brings you home. Also, make sure she doesn't get lost."

I laughed at that, and replied with "Okay, I'll make sure she doesn't get lost. Bye."

I opened the door and got out of the car. Ingrid drove off as I walked into the school. I got to Ms. Mills' classroom and found her in her office. She was reading a book and didn't notice me come in.

"Good morning, Ms. Mills."

She jumped and looked up at me. She put her book down and stood up. I could hear her heart racing loudly in her chest. My fangs came out again, but I hid them with my lips.

"Good morning, Ms. Carter. Next time, knock on the door so I know you're there."

Wow. Humans jump at almost any little noise. Weird.

"Sure. I'll do that next time."

She walked over to me and looked at the pie in my hands. I swear I could see a little gleam of hope in her eyes, along with something else. I'm not sure what though.

"Did you make this for me?"

"Yes ma'am. I also brought a plate and a fork and knife. You know, just in case you didn't have anything to eat it with."

"Thank you. No one has ever done this for me."

"You're welcome. I hope you like it. Maybe it's better than one you can make."

She laughed at that statement. God, her laugh is so beautiful. Anyone would be lucky to date her.

If I could blush, I probably would've. I looked down at the pie as she took it from my hands. My eyes shot back up to look at her as she gasped. I realized it was because my hands must be cold to her.

"Dear your hands are cold. Are you alright?"

"Oh I'm fine. I always feel cold to others, no matter how warm I am."

"Alright then. You can go sit at your desk and get ready for class then, dear."

"Sure thing, Ms. Mills."

I saw her put the pie in the mini fridge in her office and grab the book she was reading when I came in. I turned and walked out of her office and sat at my desk. I pulled out a book to read while waiting for the bell to ring.

A minute later, Ms. Mills came out and sat at her desk in front of me. She looked up at me and smiled. I returned the smile with one that didn't show my teeth. She then opened her book and started reading again. I didn't notice it was one of those vampire books until now. Finally the silence was broken by the bell.
