I smiled at Ms. Mills and we walked out to her car. We got in and she drove out of the school's parking lot. I gave her directions to the forest where the cabin is. We talked along the way. It was fine, until she laid her right hand over my left one, which was sitting on the console in the middle. I didn't move. I didn't look at her. All I could do was widen my eyes. She must've noticed that I was tense, because she soon put her hand back on the steering wheel.
I relaxed and crossed my arms as I leaned back in the seat. We finally pulled up in a dirt parking space right by the woods. I got out of her car and shut the door. I stood there, and looked at the forest before me. It was my home. The place I felt the most comfortable.
I only noticed Ms. Mills standing next to me until I felt her hand grab my wrist. I looked down at the heels she was wearing. I knew she wouldn't be able to walk through the woods in those.
"I'll carry you," I said to her.
"Are you sure you'll be able to pick me up?" She asked.
"Yeah. Now, come on. Get on my back."
"Alright. If you insist."
"Oh, I do insist. I can't let a lady walk through the woods with the possibility of breaking one of her shoes."
I bent down enough for her to climb into my back. I stood up and she had her arms wrapped around my neck. I was holding her legs up so she wouldn't slide off. I began walking into the woods with her on my back, when I heard her say, "Oh! I forgot to get the dishes out of my car!"
"Oh that's fine. I can get them later."
"Are you sure?"
"I'm sure. Ingrid won't mind."
The rest of the ten minute walk was quiet except for the sounds of the animals that live in the woods. We finally got to the cabin, and I let her down.
"Alright, Ms. Mills. Here we are. This is my cabin," I said as I looked at the cabin and smiled.
"You can call me Regina, dear," she said into my ear. She had a hand on my shoulder and was leaning into me. She then removed her hand and walked into the cabin. I stared at her for a second and then walked into the cabin.
I showed Ms. Mills to the dining room, and saw that dinner was already made. The table was even set up with place mats, forks, knives, spoons, plates, and napkins. I can't believe Ingrid actually set everything up.
"Wow, everything looks great, Ingrid..."
"Thanks, Dani," she said as she smiled.
I looked over at Ms. Mills and asked her, "would you like a drink? I can make sweet tea mixed with pink lemonade."
"Sure. Thank you, dear."
Ms. Mills and Ingrid both sat down at the table and waited for me to make drinks. I went into the kitchen and got out sugar for the tea, and the powder mix for the pink lemonade. I started brewing the tea, and mixed the pink lemonade. While I was waiting for the tea to finish brewing, I fished my iPod touch out from my back pocket.
I hooked it up to the stereo system we had in the kitchen, and put on some music. It started playing one of my favorite songs. It was Million Reasons by Lady Gaga. I loved it so much I could listen to it on repeat for days.
The tea finished brewing, so I started singing along as I got the bag of sugar and poured it into a small pitcher. I filled it most of the way. I put the pitcher under the big tea urn and started pouring tea into the pitcher.
I started mixing the tea with the sugar. Most of it dissolved in the tea, so I poured about half the pitcher into the tea urn. I then poured some more tea into the pitcher and mixed that with the leftover sugar and poured it back into the tea urn. Of course, I was singing the whole time I was making the drinks.
