“Cleo, what the hell?” Summer asked as the door slammed shut. I ran my fingers through my hair and paced back and forth and she just watched me. “I don’t know Summer. I wasn’t even that mad, just a little annoyed. I keep telling you I am a ticking time bomb that is going to explode and I won’t be able to stop it. You shouldn’t hang out with me; I wouldn’t forgive myself if I blew up on you. You know how powerful I am as a human never mind a wolf.” I said and stopped pacing to look at her. “No stop saying that. I know you; you won’t blow up on me. If you did I would forgive you, cause I know you can barely control it.” She said and we sat on the couch. “I think, Summer, for the first time I am afraid.” I looked into her eyes and she looked into mine. “What is it that you are afraid of?” She asked. “To be honest, I don’t know. Ponyboy had told me that Steve’s eyes showed a hatred for the whole world. When he talked to me I could tell that he wasn’t the type of person to get scared easily. So my eyes must have really freaked him out. I don’t know what I am going to tell them as an excuse.” I said looking down at my hands. “Okay I already know the answer to this but keep this in mind for when we know these guys better,” I nodded and she continued, “Tell them the truth, who you really are. If they are going to be true friends they will stand beside you and not run off.” I shook my head. “I can’t do that Summer, they wouldn’t understand. They would call me a freak and run off. I don’t want that, I like these guys and feel like I know them from how well Ponyboy described them.” I said and she just nodded. “I know but just keep it in mind. I stood beside you and I love you as a wolf. You’re fun to ride and have soft fur and a comfy pillow. Not to mention that you are a total bad ass.” She said and I smiled at her. I wrapped her in a hug and she hugged me back. “You’re the best Sum.” I said pulling back. She flipped her hair over her shoulder, “I know I am. Come on, let’s go make some lunch.” She got up off the couch and walked to the kitchen me following close behind. I sat at the kitchen table as she opened the fridge. “Okay I am guessing you are having the giant steak.” She turned her head towards me and I nodded licking my lips. Through food is where a lot of my wolf instincts come through. I can hunt pretty well from the good hearing, sight, and smell. Also what wolf doesn’t love meat? She placed the plate in front of me and I dug in as she got a salad. This is the one thing about her that bothered me. She is a vegetarian and is always trying to get me to eat salad. “Want some salad?” She asked. I gave her a disgusted look and shook my head. “Fine I give up. I get the message, you are only going to eat meat.” She said. “Really?” I asked hopeful. She shook her head, “Nope.” “Thought so, but you have to understand that I am a wolf, wolves are carnivores, that is the one trait that is shown on the human side of all wolves: their diet. Every guy in the pack is a full time carnivore and it will always be like that.” I said. She held her hands up defensively, “Okay, okay; I’ll stop asking you if you want salad. Let’s talk about the pack. Anyone you getting close to or have your eye on?” I shook my head, “Summer, none of the guys like me they are all jealous because I am a fourteen year old girl that can beat all of their asses with both hands tied behind my back without a problem and I am alpha. They are all eighteen and have been a wolf for longer than me. They all only respect me because my father was one of the greatest alpha wolfs there has ever been and I followed in his footsteps. I will admit though being around shirtless guys all day is amazing. Since their powers were transferred from their fathers, their clothes rip when they transform but since mine are “natural” so to speak, my clothes don’t and they have to keep their hair shorter and I don’t, which is good since I look really stupid with short hair.” Summer is always interested in what having the “natural” powers is like. She wants to be a part of the pack so bad but knows she can’t. She looked at me with amazement and nodded, even though she didn’t know this. “We still have to come up with an excuse about why my eyes flashed color.” I reminded her. She sighed, “Yea, why not just say that he was just seeing things and just imagined the whole thing.” A light bulb went off in my head. “Yea that could work, Steve don’t seem too bright.” I said as I finished my steak and put my plate in the sink next to hers. “So what do you think of Ponyboy? He seems to like you.” Summer said and I knew where this was going. I smiled at the ground, “He’s really nice, we have a lot in common, and he is really sweet. I am not sure if I like like him yet but I do like him as a friend.” She smiled at me. “When you figure out if you like like him or not, call me.” Summer said and I nodded. “You know I will.” I said and we both laughed. “Come on let’s go back to the DX, they are probably wondering where we are. Let’s take the truck too cause it needs gas.” I said and we skipped out the door and into the truck with linked arms. We have quite the wacky friendship. I love this chick.
