There was no denying it was wrong. Beyond wrong. Not to mention completely inappropriate.
Even though James was only a few years older than Riley, he was still the team's head choreographer. He had authority and was basically a teacher. Anything more than your basic "the chill teacher that everyone looks to as a friend but isn't really classified as a real friend" would be out of the question. But some how, shy, timid, goody two shoes little Riley managed to cross that line.
The minute James had stepped in front of A Troupe for the very first time just months ago, Riley heart immediately began to race, more than it ever had over a boy, and she knew that she was hooked.
James felt the same way. Although he didn't come to the realization of this till later on, always playing off his constant beating heart on nervousness due to his new job. He didn't admit any feelings to himself until the "incident".
The team had been working on a routine for weeks. It was done being choreographed, and was in the process of being polished. The majority of the dancers were on top of the choreography, and would be able to perform it to highest perfection if they were asked to on the spot. A few others knew the dance but was still cleaning parts up. But then there was Riley who was still having trouble with parts.
James picked up on this. He seen she was struggling. He didn't want the team to be held back because of her but defiantly didn't want her to make a fool of herself either. So he approached her, asking her to stay after rehearsal to help her. She agreed.
That little one on one resulted in an unexpected surprised. What started out with flirty talk, soon lead to flirty touches which finally resulted in a kiss, a sweet, deeply desired, totally inappropriate kiss.
Kisses soon lead to make outs, and make outs eventually lead to sex. Riley wasn't James's first, but James was Riley's, and she wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
Of course all of this didn't happen all in one day, but rather a couple week span, and nobody knew, requiring a lot of sneaking around. Pretending to not know choreography to get a private lesson with James or offering to be used as a guinea pig for new choreography, finding themselves in closets when nobody was around, staying at his place and lying to her parents about her whereabouts.
But they also weren't a couple.
At this time, they were both at James's apartment. Riley was lying on the couch, wearing a pair of James's grey sweatpants and one of his t shirts. She had stayed the night, after telling her parents she was staying at a friend's.
James was in the kitchen cooking breakfast, wearing just grey sweatpants as well, similar to the ones Riley was wearing. Every now and then he'd look out into the living room area of his open concept apartment to look at Riley.
He knew it was wrong. And illegal. He'll be 21 soon while Riley was only 17. She was still a child.
He knew he should cut her off. It would be better for both of them. She could find a guy her own age, and he could easily find a girl around his. But he couldn't bring himself to do that. He hated to admit it, but he knew that he'd miss her too much.
He studied her from the kitchen. She was sprawled out on the couch, one knee bent up. She nibbled on her left thumb nail while she was engrossed in something on her phone. Her hair was tied into a a messy ponytail. And he thought she looked so adorable in his clothes. She looked up at him, and smiled slightly.
"Is breakfast ready yet?" She asked. He snapped out of his daze and smiled back.
"Yeah, come and get it." He responded, turning back to the eggs and bacon cooking on the stove. When he turned around again, she was standing behind him, smiling wider.
