Chapter 2: The × Beginning of × Everything

"Here we are Ui-chan."

Ui's Point of view...

'I....can't believe...the Hunter Exam...is held in a place like this.'

I sweat dropped and entered the room. "Uh, what are we doing here Satotz-san? Are we gonna wait for the steak to cook?"

Satotz-san just shook his head. "You'll see." And just then, my question was answered when the room moved, and was heading down. I turned and look at the sign. "So this is an elevator! Amazing!"

I turned to Satotz-san. "I can't believe it Satotz-san! I finally get to take the Hunter Exam. After all these years, I've waited till I turn 12, I'm so pumped right now!"

Satotz-san chuckled and just sat, wait— there were chairs? I mentally got hit by a rock, and sat on the other chair. I waited.

'So, B56.'

"Ne, Satotz-san, do you really have to come early?" I asked, striking up a conversation with the older man.

"Why, of course. I'm the examiner, and I must be there so that the exam could go on smoothly. If I were to be late, then I could be punished."

"Oh... Hey, can you tell me what's the first phase of the exam?" I asked, another question. Eager to gain new information. However, Satotz-san just chuckled, AGAIN. Geez, how many times does this guy chuckle? He doesn't even have a mouth to begin with.

"No can do, kiddo. It's supposed to be a secret. Plus, you're an applicant. That would be unfair to the others who joined." I pouted, but understood.

"I guess you're right, somehow." Again with his chuckling. I turned to the sign once again.

'83. Almost there!'

I took out something from my bag, it was a sketch pad. I always bring this with me. Since, I like sketching and all~ I also took out my blue headset, and listened to some music. I was currently listening to, 'Masayume Chasing, by BoA.' I love this music for some reason, it makes me relax.

"100! Yes! We're here!" The doors opened, as I hurriedly sprung out. I landed on my feet, as I made a 'tada' pose.

I reopened my eyes which I closed, and was surprised when there was no one there.

"Huh? Where's everyone— Oh right... Wait, does that mean I'm first? Wohoo! I'm first~ Oh! I'm first~" I did a little victory dance and let out a giggle.

"Hello there, congratulations on safely getting to the exam. Here you go, please wear this plate on your chest the whole time. Don't lose it now."

I snapped my head to the familiar voice and almost squealed in delight. "Bean-san! Hello~!"

The said green bean looked up, and had a surprised face when he saw me. A smile instantly replaced his surprised state.

"Hello to you too, Miss Ui. I'm glad you reached the Exam site safe. Looks like you're the first one here!" I giggled. "Yup, ain't that great?!" I asked, with an accent. Bean-san nodded.
