-Cody's POV-

"Anthony?" I whispered, frightened. I sat up, pulling the sheets with me.

"Hi, Cody," He greeted uneasily as he scratched behind his head.

"What...what are you doing here?" I asked him, "I thought you were at Brookside."

He turned on the lamp on the nightstand and sat down beside me, "I broke out."

"Again?"

"Yeah," He answered nonchalantly, "This time, though, there's more people on my ass."

I smirked, "I thought I'd never see you again."

"Me either," He replied with his smile that made me fall in love with him, "Now it's my turn to ask what you're doing here. I knew you were getting discharged, but I didn't know you'd be here, sleeping in my bed."

I blushed, "Ian's Ms. Kelly's nephew, so I guess she sent me to him. Speaking of Ian, does he know you're here?" I inquired. He shook his head no. My eyes widened, "What? Why? I thought he was your best friend."

"He is. But I can't have him know I'm here because...I'm not staying here very long," He disclosed to me, "I just came here to clean up and stuff. And I'm already pushing it as it is talking to you right now. Like I said before, there are more people on my ass this time; if I stay here much longer, I...I might get caught."

"Don't leave me again," I begged quietly, "Please."

He frowned, "I've got to, Cody." A tear rolled down my cheek and he brushed it away with his thumb, "I hate leaving you, but it's the best thing to do."

"You promised we'd escape together," I reminded him somewhat irrelevantly, "And you left without me. Why do you keep leaving me?"

"I can't help it, Cody, I don't want to put you in harm."

"But you promised!" I yelled. He clamped his hand over my mouth.

He slowly removed his hand and I turned away from him. "Cody, I'm sorry," He attempted to apologize, "I really really am. But, I'm not taking you with me. I'm not putting you in the situation where you and I might get sent back to that hell hole." I looked down at my lap as he leaned forward, "I love you, Cody. And that's why I'm doing this. So you can live the life you were meant to."

I crossed my arms over my chest, "I hate it here," I started crying again, "I don't see how you could live in a world like this."

He smirked, "It's what you've been missing, though. It's amazing, trust me. You just need some more time to experience it all." He bent down on the floor in front of me and took my hands in his, "I need to go, Cody. Now go back to bed and don't say anything about me coming here." He kissed me on the lips and walked out.

"Wait!" I cried as I followed him out. I noticed the hall light was on and Ian stood in his bedroom doorway, staring at Anthony as Anthony stared at him.

"What the fuck are you doing here, Anthony?" Ian asked him.

Anthony was speechless.

Ian looked over at me and then back at Anthony, "Are you taking away Cody?"

"What? No!" Anthony retorted quickly. It kind of disheartened me the tone he told him that in, I don't know why, "She needs to stay here."

"Why are you leaving anyways?" Ian questioned, "Wouldn't you be better off here?"

"Look, Ian, if I could stay here, I would, but..." Just then, the front door crashed down to the floor and five people dressed in black with guns in their hands entered the house. I hadn't realized it, but Ian had stepped in front of me in a protective manner.

"Padilla, get your ass out of here and into the van," One of the men ordered.

"Never!" He yelled before pushing Ian and I to the side and escaping into a room. The five men followed him in there and shut the door behind them. Ian sequentially swung the door open to reveal an opened window and no one in the room.

I was shaking in fear. Ian turned around and gripped me tightly on the arms, "Are you okay, Cody?" I nodded my head yes. He smiled before walking past me and into the front room. I turned around and saw him pacing back and forth.

"Are you okay?" I inquired as I approached him.

He stopped pacing and glanced over at me, "Yeah. You should go back to bed, though. We both should. Tomorrow we're going to be filming all day, so you might want to get some rest so you're not a zombie."

I crossed my arms over my chest, "You know, he left because he was being followed."

"I kind of assumed that when those five guys burst down my front door," He retorted with a laugh.

"And he only came to clean up. He never wanted to harm us."

He shook his head, "I really don't care what he does or what his intentions are anymore. He's not the same person I befriended a while back. He's changed." An awkward silence fell over the house. He sighed, "Alright, I'm going to put this door back up and then go to bed. You should too," He said as he escaped into the garage.

I turned around and looked into the room Anthony escaped to (which was the office) and stared at the opened window. I shook my head and went back into Anthony's room, where I sat down on the bed. That's when I saw it. When Anthony must've come in, he left a bag by the door. I stood up and walked over to it, picking it up and dropping it's contents to the floor. I sat down and started looking through them, most of them were stuff used to break into things, like a crowbar to get into a car, bobbypin to pick a lock, stuff like that. But under all of that was a folded up piece of paper.

I took it out from under everything and unfolded it. It was actually a few papers together, filled with words from top to bottom. They were describing his experience there at Brookside. And as I read them, I noticed some of the documentary was about me. The more I read about me, the less sweet it got, and the more I learned he thought I'd been lied to my whole life. If anything, he was the one lying to me, promising me we'd escape together. Pfft.

I crumpled up the piece of paper before I could finish and shot it into the paper basket by the dresser. I started sobbing into my hands.
