-Cody's POV-
I woke up to the sound of plates clacking against one another and the aroma of cooked bacon and pancakes. A smile crept on my face as I turned over on my side, away from the blinding sun. That's when someone's arm snaked around my front. I screamed in fright and fell out of the bed.
"Cody?" Ian asked as I got to my feet and rubbed my head I hit on the nightstand on my way down. I turned around and saw him sitting in my bed, using his right arm for support. He was shirtless and his hair was messed up. "Are you okay?"
I opened my mouth to reply to him, but instead of my voice sounding, my dad's did. "BREAKFAST IS READY, CODY AND FRIEND!"
"ALRIGHT! GIVE US A FEW MINUTES!" I shouted back before looking over at Ian and finally replying, "Yeah, I'm okay. We should get ready though," I walked over to my pile of clothes I discarded last night and picked them up to put on over my bra and underwear, "Because if I learned anything living here for a few years, if you don't come down within five minutes, my dad will come upstairs and drag you downstairs. Literally."
"Okay, okay, gees," He retorted, throwing the blankets to the side to reveal that he wasn't just shirtless, but he was completely naked. I blushed and averted my gaze away. "What? It's not like you haven't seen me naked before. Remember last night?" He picked up his underwear and slipped into them. Alright, so the kiss Ian and I shared last night may or may not have turned into something more. Okay, let's not sugar coat it, it did turn into something more. So much more than a kiss.
"Oh god," I chuckled, embarrassed, hanging my head and covering my face with my hands, dropping the clothes I had just picked up.
He laughed and walked over to me, taking my hands away from my face and leaning in to kiss me again. I pulled away and shook my head, "I'm serious, Ian. My dad will come up and drag us downstairs."
He rolled his eyes and slipped his hands under my jawline, disregarding my warning, "Has anyone told you how beautiful you look in the morning?"
My pink cheeks grew and even brighter shade of pink and I smiled, "Once or twice."
He grinned and gave me one more quick kiss before turning around and walking over to where his clothes were. We both slipped back into the outfits we had worn yesterday and fixed each other's hair quickly before walking downstairs together. I stopped at the bottom of the stairs when I saw who was in the kitchen with my mom and dad.
"I wondered when you were going to come down," One of the two people greeted as they got up from the table they were sitting at and walked over to me, picking me up in a hug and spinning me around before setting me down on the ground, "God, I almost didn't recognize you. You've grown up so much."
"Joey?" I asked, confused. He nodded his head. I squealed in excitement and hugged him tightly. "How have you been?" I asked, stepping out of the embrace and walking into the kitchen, him following me as I started to ask him all of these questions. The other of the two sat at the table and occasionally looked over at me, as I did him, but the glances were never long. Only a quick second or two. Ian sat down at the table across from this person but didn't say a word to him.
"So who's hungry?" My mother inquired, picking up the plate of pancakes from the counter and moving it over to the table.
"Excuse me," The second person blurted out as they stood up and rushed out of the house.
"What's his problem?" Dad remarked, crossing his arms over his chest.
"I don't know," My mother replied, bringing over the other plate that was piled high with bacon.
Joey sat down at the table and patted the seat next to him that the person was previously sitting in, indicating that I should sit beside him.
"I-I'll be right back," I stuttered before going after the second person. I opened the door and found them sitting on the grass by the street, their head in their hands. I approached them and sat down beside them.
"What are you doing out here, Cody?" The person asked me after giving me a quick look.
"What are you doing here, Anthony?" I retorted.
"I didn't know, okay?" He snapped at me. I stared at him blankly. "I didn't know he was your brother. I didn't even know you had a brother." He sighed and rose to his feet. I looked up at him. "He was your fucking brother and he gave me a ride to the same fucking house you were in." He laughed. "But since I'm here...it's got to mean something, right?"
I shook my head, "I don't understand."
"How much more fated could this be?" He exclaimed, glancing down at me, "Cody, we're meant to be," He bent down so he was eye level with me.
"What if we're not meant to be?" I asked him, pulling my knees into my chest and wrapping my arms around them, "What if you running away and leaving me behind time and time again...what if that was meant to be?"
"It's not," He tried to convince me, standing up and extending his hand out to me, helping me to my feet, "Because I love you, Cody. I knew the minute I saw you that...that you were the one I want to be with," He took my hands in his and interlocked our fingers. I closed my eyes and hung my head. What about Ian? I thought to myself. "Please tell me it was the same for you."
I opened my eyes and looked up into his brown ones, "Anthony, at first...yeah, it was. I thought you were going to be the one who would accept me for me. The one I would love for eternity. But as time went on, and you left me behind, I...I don't know." I slipped my hands out of his and crossed them over my chest, "I'm with Ian now anyways."
His eyes widened, "Again?"
"Yes," We heard from the front doorway. We both turned our heads and saw Ian standing there. He walked down the three porch steps and approached us, slipping his arm behind my back and pulling me close to his side. "And I'm not letting her go. Not again." He looked down at me and smirked.
"You didn't even like her!" Anthony shouted, "When I talked about her, you said she was messed up in the head! Because she saw things and would scream at random times." I looked up at Ian. He really said that about me? Ian was speechless. He didn't know what to say. "That's right, Cody," Anthony said directly to me. "He didn't give a shit about you. What makes you think he's changed?"
I stepped out of Ian's hold and looked at him cautiously.
He scoffed, "You're really going to believe a word he's saying? He's lied to you so many times, Cody! How do you know he's not lying again?"
"Because I'm not lying!" Anthony cried, "Please, Cody, you've got to believe me!"
"No, believe me," Ian begged, taking my hands in his and bringing them up to his lips, "I love you, Cody."
"No he doesn't," His friend contradicted him, "If he loved you, he wouldn't have said that you two were from different worlds. He wouldn't have-"
"JUST STOP!" I shouted, causing the both of them to take a step back from me. I shook my head and walked inside the house. I turned around while standing in the doorway and said, "Both of you just go home. Right now. I'll talk to whoever I choose when I've chosen. Okay?" And with that, I slammed the door behind me and walked into the kitchen, plopping down at the table in the seat next to Joey.
"What was that all about?" My mother asked me, "I heard yelling."
"It's nothing," I murmured as I picked a pancake and put it on the plate in front of me, "Pass me the syrup?"
