When I got home my mother was wondering why I came home so early. I told her that me and Leo accidentally pranked the headmaster and she told me the same thing that Mr Davies did. I listened very carefully because it's my mum, I love her to bits and hate to disappoint her. Afterwards she sent me to my room and I just lay there on my phone looking through Instagram. I'm looking through Instagram when I get a message from an old friend.
Gareth-
Hey mate. How are you?? I just wanted to let u know that I'm moving closer to ur school so my dad is thinking of sending me there.
Me-
That's awesome dude!! I'm gonna be in detention until Thursday so I won't see u.The conversation went on until my mum called me down for super.
"Mike can you help lay the table please?" Asked mum.
"Yea, sure." I did as I was told. We had spaghetti bolognese that night. I avoided conversation but answered dad when he asked me
"How is school these days? You hardly talk about it." I met his light blue eyes
"School is alright. Dad can I um... can I talk to you alone for a minute please?" We finished our food and dad followed me to my room.
"What do you want to talk about son?" Dad asked me worriedly.
"Dad, what did you do when you impressed a girl? I've liked this girl now for years and it feels like she does not even glance my way." I vent out and lie face down on my bed.
"Well, what have you tried to impress her with?" Dad asks me and turns me around so that my eyes focus on the ceiling.
"I've tried playing football and rugby around her, I try to get her attention by being loud in class and I play small but funny pranks on classmates and teachers," I list these things one by one on my fingers.
"Have you tried talking to her? Including her in your conversations? Do you text her and start talking on social media?" Dad's got a point.
"You have got a point. But you know Owain?"
"Owain? Yeah the last time you described him to me, you said and I quote 'that boy is the most evil thing on the world'. Those were your exact words."
"Yea that Owain. Well he asked out the girl I like and because I was sent home early, I have no clue what her answer was. Add to that the fact I have to wait till Monday to find out what her answer was." I sound so defeated that my dad pulls me in for a hug.
"It'll be alright son, everything will be alright." My dad comforted me as I thought about how to talk to Jade. "Get some sleep, we have a busy day tomorrow." He patted my back and got off of my bed and closed the door behind him. I took off my shirt and put an old pair of joggers on. I went to bed with Jade in my mind.
