I woke up on Saturday morning. I grabbed my phone and checked the time. It was around 6:30 and my dog was scratching at my door. I got up and slumped to my door to let Max in. He ran up to my bed, jumped onto it and spread himself across it. I closed my door and laid down next to him. I had just woken up when my dad came in and took the covers off of me.
"C'mon son! It's time to get up and help your old man in the garden." He pulled me out of bed and took Max out. I put on my grey nike hoodie and a pair of old jeans. I put some gel in my hair and styled it to the way Jade said suits me. I went down stairs to see that everyone was up and ready. I grabbed a plate of pancakes which mum had made and sat down by my little brother, Sam. I thanked mum when she sat down. Sam and Katie said thank you mummy in unison after hearing me. I finish my pancakes and head outside to see dad.
"Mike! I was wondering when you were going to join me." He said whilst gathering a bunch of tools. "Today we will be tearing the old, wire fence down and replacing it with oak wood planks." I started heading towards dad and he handed me a pair of gloves. We started pulling it out of the ground when my phone goes. I walk of and answer it.
"Hello?"
"Hey Mike! It's Leo. Me and the boys were wondering if you wanted to join us in town later?" I hold my hand over the phone and call my dad.
"How long will it take to do this?" Dad stopped what he was doing, turned and looked me in the eye.
"Depends on how quickly we work." I put the phone by my ear and replied.
"What time are you going?"
"About 12:30-1:00. The girls invited us and said to invite the other boys."
"What girls."
"Charlie, Lucy, Carol and Jade. Why?"
"I'll get back to you." I hung up, stuffed my phone in my pocket and walked back towards dad. I tore down the wire fence whilst dad started placing the oak wood in line. I put the old wire in the shed at the back. Dad said that he would find a way to use it. After a while, 11:30 rolled by and I texted Leo to see what's going on.
Me: R u still going out 2 town??
Leo: The girls said that there not going anymore. It'll just be me u and Ezra
Me: I'm gonna stay home. See u tomorrow at practise. After helping dad with the fence, we had dinner and I disappeared into my room. I listened to music and did some homework. It was geography and found an excuse to text Jade.
Me: Hey Jade. I need help on my geography homework contact me when u can.
It took 5-10 minutes to reply, but the important thing was that she answered.
Jade: What's the magic word?
Me: please?
Jade: wrong
Me: pretty please?
Jade: nope
Me: abra kadabra?
Jade: not even close
Me: what is it????
Jade: Guess. First thing that pops into your head.
Me: I will buy you McDonalds.
Jade: deal! So, what's the question?
I sent her a picture of the homework and she sent back all of the answers.
Me: aren't u supposed 2 explain??
Jade: na.... just figure it out yourself.
We ended the conversation there. I finished the homework and a few others. My dad told me to walk max so I put on my black and blue jumper with a pair of jeans. I clipped his lead on and went to the field by Bryntawe. Max ran off to other dogs to see them. There were two border collies, one with a red collar and the other with a green.
"Hey Michael." Jade! It was Jade's voice saying that. I looked up and locked eyes with her. She bent down to pet Max. Is it bad that I'm jealous of my dog for the attention he's getting? A tall, dark haired boy was calling Jade.
"Your friends calling you." I say.
"Eh, it's only Jack."
"Who's Jack?" I ask as soon as she finishes her sentence.
"Why should I tell you?" A smile grows on her face and she turns around when Jack calls her. "He's my brother, relax! See you Monday." She calls her dogs and walks off. I sigh in relief when it sinks in that they're siblings. I turn around and start walking in a different direction. I feel a hand grabbing my arm. I turn to see that it's only Jade.
"Can I walk with you?" She asks me. I smile and nod at her. I gesture for her to walk on my left.
"So what happened with you and Owain?" I finally ask her after a long silence.
"I said no." She said it so simply. I mentally fist bump myself.
"Why?"
"I like someone else."
"Who?" I don't want to know the answer unless she says my name. Just then her phone rings and she answers it. She walks off and I just stop and stare at her.
"That was my mum. She want's me home asap." We walk back to the gate and go our seperate ways. As soon as she turns the corner with Skye and Bolt, her dogs, I start walking home with Max on his blue, black and white braided lead.
