Jim vetoes going to the corner shop today, instead choosing to wake up five minutes earlier and make his own, then transferring it to a travel mug.
He still has to walk past the shop, however, and when he does he is met with an unpleasant surprise.
The place is closed, the lights out and the cupboards bare.
As he walks the rest of the way, he wonders what has happened.
He comes to the conclusion that whatever has happened cannot be good.
I think everyone could have realised that.
As he gets onto the train, he realises that he doesn't have a newspaper today.
To Jim, this is nothing short of a tragedy.
When he nears his seat, he realises that Catherine is already there.
For some reason, this makes his negative outlook lift a bit- it makes him a bit happier.
Now, why could that be?
After saying a quick hello, he takes his seat.
Catherine seems a bit different today, and after noticing this he take a giant leap (well big for him anyway) asking her:
"What's wrong"
She looks at him with her big grey eyes and says
"Oh, it's nothing. Just some family things."
"Oh. Ok. Well, I'm glad you're alright."
"I am" she says with a smile.
"That's good" says Jim.
