The Boy With Great Vigor

You told me you loved me,
But it was all the same,
My heart was broken,
For that boy who never came.

He toyed with my heart,
And so now I'll toy with yours,
Because there is little beauty
In hiding these awful sores.

I knew you meant well,
And that my heart was growing bigger,
As if to make room,
For the boy with great vigor.

But that's not what happened,
No,
For I just filled myself with thoughts,
Of a lost lover.

And you sat waiting,
Patiently,
Aching,
For me. The girl of your dreams.

I know that I hurt you,
And it kills me to say,
I'd really like to be with you,
But things won't work out that way.

Because you see,
Even though that boy broke my heart,
He was the one who built it up and filled it with love,
Right from the start.

And now you know he's ruined it,
For every other boy,
Because now you can't have me,
So you pretend to be coy.

You pretend you only love me when you're high,
You only call me beautiful when I cry,
You only care when I'm broken,
Because your real feelings aren't soberly spoken.

And off in the distance,
Sits a boy with a heart of gold,
Waiting to hold his girl,
When the nights get cold.

Little does he know,
That he caused so much damage,
And the surprise waiting for him at home,
He may not be able to manage.

So now I sit waiting,
For a boy who loves me,
But may never show,
And you sit waiting,
For me to let go.
