"What?" I asked in disbelief as everyone glumly applauded.
"I said you're in Slytherin you silly girl," stated the hat.
Professor Mcgonagall took the hat off my head as I glanced towards Hermione who had a sad look on her face. I stood up walking over to the Slytherin table sitting at the very end by myself.
Why was I sorted into Slytherin? I'm not a Slytherin! I thought Hogwarts was going to be different. I thought I was actually going to have more than one friend but now I don't have a chance of having more friends since I'm not even in the same house as them.
The Sorting Hat finished Sorting all of the new first year Hogwarts students and the feast began. I was eating a bowl of mashed potatoes and gravy when a boy about a year older than me scooted down next to me.
"So, you single?" He asked winking.
"Ugh! Gross!" I exclaimed and stood up disgusted.
I suddenly got an idea. What if I could sneak over to the Gryffindor table and eat with Hermione? Ugh, I'm sure a teacher would see me though. Well, the teachers at the front were all occupied with the food, they probably wouldn't notice. But then there was an old man leaning against the doors to the Great Hall holding a creepy looking cat with blood red eyes.
Then the man turned around for a fraction of a second and in that moment I realized that if I wanted to get to the Gryffindor table, now was my chance.
I walked swiftly but casually to the other side of the room getting weird glances from other students in Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. I searched down the table and spotted Hermione near the middle. I made my way to her and sat next to her.
"Um, Lilie, aren't you supposed to be sitting over there?" Hermione asked pointing to the Slytherin table.
"Shh, shhh.. I can probably get away with it if we don't draw attention to ourselves," I whispered to Hermione.
"I don't think that's such a good idea.."
"Trust me, it's fine."
We finished eating as students began to leave for their common rooms. We got up and were heading for the doors when I heard screaming. I stopped and walked to the window searching for the source of the screaming. I then saw Harry, Liam and Ron in the flying car again zooming down from the sky.
"Hey, Hermione, come look at this," I said pointing out the window at them.
"Wait, is that-"
"Ron, Harry, and Liam? Yeah."
Dropping into a steep nose dive they crashed into a giant tree in the courtyard.
"They just crashed into the Whomping Willow!" Hermione exclaimed worriedly.
"Who just crashed into the Whomping Willow?" Asked the old man from earlier causing Hermione and me to flinch.
"Mr. Filch, um, no one. No one crashed at all," Hermione said attempting to lie.
"Your terrible at lying, Miss Granger and get to your common rooms, both of you," Mr. Filch ordered.
Hermione headed to the Gryffindor common room and I followed as I saw Mr. Filch leading Harry, Liam, and Ron through the hallway and into a teacher's office.
"Lilie, the Slytherin common room is down in the dungeons," Hermione said to me pointing down a staircase with a sign next to it that read, 'Dungeons'.
