Chapter 1: Kat's POV
"Hey Kyle", I say as I pick up the phone.
" Hey I've got some great news!!"
"What is it!?!" I answer excitedly.
"I just ordered plane tickets to California for you and I!!!!" He yelled in to the phone.
"OMG THATS AWESOMEEE!!!! Oh wait, did you pay for mine?"
"Yea I thought I would be a good friend", I could tell he was grinning while saying this.
"Oh gosh how much was it?!? I'll pay you back right when we get back", I say worriedly.
"No it's fine really they weren't too expensive, don't worry about it, ok? Now I have to go but I'll talk to you later, bye katty perry"
" Alright, bye Kyle", I say as I giggle in to the phone.
As soon as I put down the phone my stepmom comes home from work. I tell her that this year Kyle's taking me to California. She wants us so badly to date but I just don't like Kyle like that. He's my best friend, and nothing more.
There's only two more days of my senior year and I'll be turning 19 in a few months and I can't wait to go to California! We go every summer for the whole time since neither of us have other friends to go home to ha.
*two days later*
Schools just ended and I'm so relieved and excited. I packed all my bags and now I just have to get ready. I hop in to the shower and then hop out and grab my black short shorts and pair it with a blue loose but light sweater and throw my hair up in a high pony tail.
I run down the stairs taking one bite of a waffle my stepmom made for me and I see Kyle's car pull in to the driveway. Its time, I say to myself. Kyle let's himself in (as always) and grabs my bag and throws them in the truck.
"Heeey, be careful with that stuff!!!" I yell to him. I can see his dimples showing, meaning he's smiling at my remark.
My stepmom and dad come down the stairs to say goodbye to Kyle and me.
"I'll miss you sweetheart", stepmom says to me
"I'll miss you too", I smile back to her.
"Now, you take good car of her, and if she gets hurt I'll - "
"Dad.." I say giving him a look.
We say our last goodbyes and Kyle and I head off to the airport.
