Frank had instructed me to close my eyes the entire drive. Luckily for me, it wasn't too long. I heard Frank open the passenger side door and speak gently before taking my hand and leading me out of the car.
'Just a little bit farther, I promise.'
Frank led me up a hill that was populated by singing crickets and nothing more. I grasped his hand a bit tighter as he spoke. 'Open your eyes.' I lifted my eyelids to see the entire city and its glowing lights. The sky above us was decorated by a bed of stars that twinkled just for us. I couldn't hear anything that was going on in the city I lived in, only singing from nature. Frank watched as I gazed at the heavenly view he had allowed me to see. At first, I didn't believe it was my city until I saw my house at the very edge of it. I gasped in amazement.
'It's beautiful...'
'Cela me rappelle une certaine jeune femme que je ne connaissais que depuis des heures.' Frank softly smiled under the light of the moon.
'What does that mean?'
'It means, "It reminds me of a certain young woman I had only met hours ago".' I looked over at him, suddenly curious about what he saw in me.
'Frank, why did you bring me here? Why did you go through all this effort? Why do you-'
'I believe love at first sight is real. I believe in destiny and I believe that you, (Y/n), are something extraordinary. It's not just your face but it's the way you speak, the way you move, the way you breathe. I find myself captivated by your outer beauty that I'm compelled to go beyond that and find the angel underneath.' Frank shifted to face me and suddenly slipped his other hand into mine. He clung to both of my hands as if I was dying. 'I've been going to that casino just to see you. Seeing those greedy men lust after you without even considering that you were more than just a face, it disgusted me. I wanted to learn. I needed to know who you were...' I felt like I was about to cry after hearing that. I had finally found someone who understands, who knows. It felt like a miracle. I felt like a princess and nothing could change that, not even my father.
'I don't know what to say...I never thought someone could be so passionate about someone like me. I never thought that anyone could care about me...' My voice shook as I spoke and I began to feel unable to look away from him. I let go of one of his hands and lifted the glasses off my face and threw them off the cliff, not caring about materialistic things like that anymore. Frank noticed the tears that began to stream down my eyes and lifted his free hand to wipe them away.
'Don't cry, belle. You're too divine.' Frank smiled at me before I leaned forward and grazed my lips over his.
'Promise me that you do truly care about me, please...' I begged, beginning to feel his breath tickle my skin. Frank took a deep breath and spoke calmly.
'Je promets que quoi qu'il arrive, je vais m'occuper de toi. Je vais te suivre en enfer si tu veux que je le fasse. Juste s'il vous plaît, ne pleure pas mon amour.'
I didn't know what he said but for some reason, I knew he had promised. I just knew it and nothing was going to stop him. I felt more tears stream down my cheeks as Frank leaned forward that extra millimetre and kissed me.

'Where were you?' I heard my father scream at me as I waltzed through the main doors.
'I just went for a walk dad, it's okay. Really, nothing's wrong.' I called back to him, not even bothering to look at the old man.
'It's past 10:00! I will not have you tiredly wallowing around at work! Your arse needs to be attracting customers! You're just a pretty fucking face and you need to be getting attention!' He shouted at me. I ignored him and went upstairs to my bedroom so I could get some sleep. I dreamt about Frank laying down with me in our own house, away from everyone. It was my favourite dream.

Over nine months later, Frank and I were still glued to each other. I snuck out almost every night just to see him and he came to the casino to visit me. Sometimes he'd even sneak lunch in for me since I wasn't allowed to eat any unhealthy food. My father became more strict and forced me to be as thin as humanly possible. However, one day, something happened.
My dad snapped.

I sat in the limo with dad, wondering where Frank and I were going to go tonight. 'Where have you been sneaking off to at night?' My father growled. I just told him I was walking but he had none of it. 'Don't give me that bullshit!' He screamed, suddenly grabbing my neck. I froze, my eyes widening in shock. 'You are my property! You are never to leave the house again!' His grip on my throat tightened to the point where I couldn't breathe. I tried to gasp but he held me down and continued to yell at me. 'If you sneak out again, I'll kill you!'
My vision began to fade until my father let go of my neck and allowed me to breathe. My neck was throbbing with pain as I spoke.
'N-No, dad...I'm...not your slave.' I replied, staring at the infuriated man. He suddenly lifted his fist and slammed it straight into my left eye. I winced, but not regretting my words.
'You are my property!'
'N-No...' My fat father lifted his fist again, ramming it into my jaw. The car suddenly stopped and I kicked the door open, suddenly sprinting away from the limo as fast as I could. My head was still spinning from the temporary lack of air. I heard my dad scream for someone to get me but it was too late. I was long gone.
