"Run guys! RUN!" Accalia barked. The moonlight was blocked out by several layers of cloud and mist, making the night dark and silent except for the piercing shrieks of the wolves. Accalia ran through the moorlands with tremendous speed as the others were hot on her trail. Big, big, bears lumbered behind them as they hurled through the night, almost flying. The bear roared, tossing back its head and letting out a loud roar that seemed to shake the ground, gaining on them. "Quick! Let's climb that tree!" Accalia flicked her tail towards a large spruce tree that seemed ages away. It was a very big tree, with gnarled roots spreading on the ground that acted like a wooden carpet, covering the grass. Tiger used his mouth to throw a large rock at the bear, aiming at its eye and hitting it in the snout instead. The bear seemed a bit dazed, but after shaking it's head back and forth and letting out another mighty roar, it hurled forward with such speed that it was now only a few metres behind. "Hurry! Hurry!" Scarlet urged them on, shouting encouragements to the apprentices who were falling behind. The tree was only a few tail lengths away now, Orchid jumped up first, followed by Crow then Scarlet, all of their fur bristling. Moon scrambled up the trunk, followed by a reluctant Cypress and the only wolves who were now left on the ground was Tiger and Accalia. "Tiger, go up the trunk!" Accalia barked "No! You first!" Tiger barked. Accalia then shoved her head at Tiger and pushed him up the trunk, he scrambled up with a reluctant look and hauled himself onto a low branch with much effort, as you may know, wolves aren't fit for climbing trees. The bear now roared triumphantly, hurling itself at Accalia. Accalia slashed at the bear, giving it a nasty gash at the shoulder, but not before the bear could twist around and clamp down on Accalia's leg, it's teeth a scraping against her bone. Accalia yowled in pain, clawing at its snout and eyes, making it bleed, and the eyesight go blurry. The bear roared once again, releasing Accalia's leg and sinking its claws into Accalia's back, making her shriek and thrash and howl wildly. By now, Tiger jumped off his low branch and launched into battle with the bear with such fury, that in a few seconds, the bear was lying in the ground, groaning in pain as Tiger gave it the killing bite to the neck, the bear gave one more breath, and the life ebbed away from it. "Accalia!" Everyone barked in unison as they scrambled all over looking for cobwebs and herbs to help her. The pain was blinding, it was burning, worse than any other pain she had ever experienced in her life. The last thing she saw was Orchid crouched over her, pressing cobwebs into her wounds. Darkness gave way as she fell into a dreamless sleep, all sounds vanishing.
