Just a quick warning, for those of you who may be obsessed with 5SOS, you would know that Luke's mom neither acts of looks the way she will in this book. I just needed to make changes for her to fit well in the story.

4. Brunch

Luckily the main house was close to Luke's cabin because it was freezing outside. As soon as we left the cabin, a large gust of cold air came our way; causing my body to shiver. As we trudged towards the house, I heard Luke next to me, his feet crunching in the icy snow. Hearing him trudge on, caused me to look his way. I noticed to coldness wasn't only affecting me. The tips of his ears and nose were red. And so were his cheeks. Some girls would kill for that rosy red look.

When we finally reached the front door of the main house, Luke twisted the knob. Thank goodness it was left unlocked,  couldn't bare to be out here for even longer.

Luke and I entered the house, both of us letting out a content sigh and we were enveloped in the cozy warmth of his home.

Luke took of his coat and held out his hand from the one that I borrowed from him, which was currently wrapped around my shoulders. I quickly shrugged it off, and handed it to him as he yelled, "Hello? Anybody home?"

There was no answer, so he turned to me and said, "I'm going to go look for everyone. Just stay here, okay?"

I nodded as he turned and walked in the other direction. Now that I was alone, everything was very quiet and awkward. I didn't hear anything in the house but Luke's quieting "hello"'s as he walked further into the house. But, I could tell someone had been cooking. It smelled amazing, like cinnamon and sugar. Just the thought of it had my stomach rumbling.

I stood awkwardly, not knowing what to do since Luke told me to stay put. But the growling of my stomach made me even more uncomfortable in the awkward situation of standing in an empty, unfamiliar house. So, to get my mind off of my stomach, I walked toward the pictures on the wall that were near the large staircase. There were many pictures of a smaller Luke, and who I assumed to be his brother.

Halfway through looking at all the pictures, my thoughts were interrupted by someone loudly clearing their throat to my left.

I quickly spun around; about to say Luke's name but, saw it was a woman standing on the staircase. She was slim, with short blonde hair, ending right above her shoulders. She had a very confused look on her face.

"Who are you?" She demanded, pursing her lips as she slowly walked down the steps.

"Uh- I..." I stuttered, not really knowing what to say. Nobody other than Luke knew I was here. I wasn't even supposed to be here. I didn't want her to think I was an intruder, or a trespasser like Luke had initially thought.

She raised her eyebrows, expecting me to blurt out my answer sooner or later.

"Mom, calm down, she's here with me."

I turned my head, and saw Luke coming in our direction with a couple people trailing behind him.

His mother's grimace relaxed into a smiled and she said, "Well then, welcome. I'm sorry dear, a lot of people try to break in."

We all introduced ourselves. Luke's mom insisted on me calling her 'Liz'. Luke's friends, Calum and Michael were behind him. Calum was tan with relatively short wavy dark hair, and Michael pale with dyed platinum hair.

After introductions, we all walked down to the kitchen, where the brunch was being served. The main house was really big. It's a wonder how no one gets lost. It had polished chestnut, wood floors,  an off white color in most of the rooms, potted plants in almost every room, and many abstract sculptures and paintings that we no doubt, ridiculously expensive.
