Plumeria dug through her sweatpants pocket, grabbing her apartment keys and unlocking the door. "Hey babe, I'm back." She said, locking the door behind her, kicking her sneakers off and carried the couple bags of groceries to the kitchen.
Her boyfriend grunted in reply, as he was watching another Pokémon battle. It was Sunday after all, but she wasn't interested in watching the first battle since she wasn't a fan of either. She couldn't care less who won.
"You couldn't have gotten back any later, tsk." He spat, not seeing Plumeria roll her eyes from staring at the tv. She threw the groceries in their specific places, then shuffling over to take a seat on the couch next to him.
"It's not my fault there were people everywhere." Plumeria replied, crossing her arms while he's put his left arm around her shoulders. She didn't react when he gave her a kiss on her cheek, other than letting out a sigh.
"Someone's moody again, guess you're not getting any presents from Santa this year." Draze said, ruffling his bright red hair. He saw Plumeria shake her head. "He's not real."
He shrugged his shoulders. "You never know, geez. Why can't you just agree with the things I say all the time instead?" Draze irritatingly asked, looking up at the ceiling to roll his eyes.
"Because it's full of shit, that's why." Plumeria replied, deciding to go to their room instead. As she got up, her right wrist was grabbed tightly, pulling her back into Draze that had stood up as well.
He squeezed his hand around her wrist more tightly, making Plumeria's wrist begin to hurt. "Look, you DON'T get to talk to me like that. Got it?" His crimson-brown eyes glared into her own eyes, trying to get his point across.
Plumeria gritted her teeth together, glaring back at him. "Whatever." She ripped her arm away from his grasp, having a disgusted look on her face as she went to their room, slamming the door behind her.
She didn't hear him trot behind her, so she breathed in and let out a tired sigh. Squaring to the ground, she picked up more empty beer bottles, scooped up crushed cigarette buds, and dusted away leftover weed that had sprinkled on the ground.
"This is so disgusting, at least I clean up." Plumeria mumbled under her breath, mindlessly putting together a blunt for herself. After lighting it, she laid on their bed, staring up at the ceiling.
She never meant to get involved in a relationship like this, she thought he was truly different, but he's changed.
Nothing was what she thought it'd be like to have a new start.
Sometimes, she wished everything was back to the way it used to be..
Plumeria got off the plane that had taken her to Sinnoh, finding her way through to the exit of the airport. Dragging herself into a cab, exhausted, she took off her backpack and put her suitcase in the seat next to her. She told the driver to go to the nearest Pokémon Center, then leaning her head against the window.
She stared out the window, admiring the different environment that she wasn't used to. After arriving, she managed to hand him the exact amount of change, then dragging herself out, wanting to collapse once she walked into the Center.
"Scuse me, so you have any rooms available?" Plumeria barely gasped out, clearly over-exhausted. Nurse Joy gasped, quickly checking the rooms available on her computer.
"I-I'm sorry, we're all full tonight."
Plumeria sighed, looking at the ground. "It's okay.." She started to turn around, until an unrecognizable voice called out to her.
"Hey! I have extra space in mine, I'll help you carry your bag." Plumeria spun back around to see a handsome red-headed young man, around the same age as her, jogging towards her. "What? I mean-"
The young man flashed a smile towards her, then proceeded to grab her travel bag. "My name's Draze, it's clear to see you're pretty new to Sinnoh." He held out his hand as a greeting, so she decided to take the offer. "Plumeria."
He motioned her to follow his lead. "That's a pretty name..glad to meet you Plumeria."
Once they arrived in the room, he set her bag next to the other bed he wasn't using. "I'll be back soon, but for now take a nice rest, it looks like it'll do you good." He smiled at her once last time, grazing her her and walking out the door.
Once the door was closed, Plumeria felt her body immediately crawl on top of the bed shakily, hot tears leaking down her cheeks. She gasped for a breath of air as she let out a silent sob, squeezing the soft blankets between her fingers tightly.
"Stupid, betraying, piece of shit.." Plumeria gritted out between her teeth, her mascara coloring her tears black, staining the pillow. "Why'd he l-leave?!? He ruined everything-thing! He just LEFT without caring for any of us-for ME!" She sobbed, her mind too fogged to even function. Everything was gone. Her dysfunctional loving family of dumb and cute grunts-because of her best friend.
It's like...he didn't care what happened to them at all..
Plumeria found herself scrolling through two year old pictures on her phone, not realizing that a few tears had slipped from her eyes. She quickly wiped them away, not letting herself be dragged down by her memories of..him.
He shouldn't matter to her, but he meant more than anything, even if he didn't deserve it.
