18 months after the wedding.

"No." Lauren stated flatly and Clara let out a huffed breath.
"And why not this one?"
"He has blue eyes."
"And? He is good looking, has an above average IQ, is musically talented, comes from a healthy background, and is considered by friends to be genuine and caring."
"But he has blue eyes." Lauren repeated, flipping through another donor candidate's information, leaving Clara frustrated on her left and Camila amused on her right.
"What is wrong with blue eyes?"
"Camila doesn't have blue eyes." Lauren stated factually, looking at her mother. "And neither do I. I want our child to have either my eyes or Camila's. Not blue."
"Fine." Clara relented and tossed the folder further down on the couch. They had been looking for nearly an hour and hadn't found a donor that they all agreed on yet. Thankfully, the company wasn't charging them by the hour to shift through all of the candidates.
"What about this one?" Clara asked, handing it over to Lauren. The younger brunette looked it over with Camila reading along with her.
"No."
"And why not?"
"He's not Jewish."
Camila scoffed and laughed as she spoke. "Baby, he doesn't have to be Jewish. You're just getting too picky. You're not going to find a male version of me."
Lauren sighed and looked back to the folder. He was a good looking man. Tall, dark brown hair about the color of Camila's. He had the warm eyes as well. "Is there a picture of him smiling?" Clara glared at her daughter. "I'm considering him. You should be happy."
"I didn't raise you to be this picky."
"This is my child we are talking about here."
"Who will have a beautiful smile no matter what." Camila assured her. "You could spend hours looking for a donor with a nice smile and when he or she is born, they could very well end up with your wonderful smile instead and would have wasted all that time."
"Fifty/fifty chance."
Camila shook her head and handed her a folder. "I like this one." Lauren handed Clara back the other file to add to the 'Lauren said no' stack and took the one from Camila. "He is a photo journalist with a background in music and the various arts. He plays the piano, guitar, and violin. He loves to dance and write. He has brown hair, brown eyes, and a nice smile." She teased. "Good health background. No history of genetic diseases. No diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease. All the basics are covered."
"You like him?" Lauren asked again, knowing Camila would be just as critical as she was.
The diva nodded. "I do."
"Mom?"
Suddenly Clara felt very critical as well. This person was going to be half of her grandchild. "Yes."
Lauren slowly nodded her head and let out one last sigh. "Okay then. This is the one." The three of them remained seated on the long sofa in the donor bank office and stared at the file in Lauren's hand. It was decided and therefore, very real. "We're going to have a baby." She said, looking at Camila who was still glancing over the folder.
"We are. Well, there's a bit more to it than that, but... yes. We are going to have a baby."
"Are Kim and Meg still having a wager on how many cycles it takes before you get pregnant?" Clara asked, breaking the tension.
