Prologue

"What's a soul mate?"

"It's a... Well, it's like a best friend, but more. It's the one person in the world that knows you better than anyone else. It's someone who makes you a better person, well, actually they don't make you a better person... You do that yourself – because they inspire you. A soulmate is someone who you carry with you forever. It's the one person who knew you, and accepted you, and believed in you before anyone else did or when no one else would. And no matter what happens... You'll always love them."

"Mummy, does that mean [Y/N] is my soulmate? She's my bestest friend, and she thinks I can become the best ma-magizoo-oologist ever in the world!" A young Newt Scamander gave a toothy grin to his mother, hands outstretched and raised above his head for emphasis, his skin covered in dark freckles and his fringe a wave of untameable hair. His large azure coloured eyes bored into his mother's form as the six year old awaited an answer.

"Darling, she can be whatever you want her to be." She gave a warm, approving smile at her son as he gave a shy smile and ran off to play.

I hope you enjoyed this little introduction to the story! I've been shamelessly reading a lot of Newt x Reader stories and I felt inspired. The next chapter will cut to their first year at Hogwarts and go from there. Hopefully there will be regular-ish updates. I want to try and get a chapter done at least once a week.
