You both made your way through the small, claustrophobic walkway, weaving and ducking between mingling students. There was no room for anyone to get by with all these people gathered in the way! Fourth years, am I right? You'd think they'd have learnt now considering how long they'd be getting the train for...

You rolled your eyes and persisted on, looking back every now and again to check that Newt had not been trapped behind students and got separated from you. Maybe you should how his hand.... No, don't be ridiculous. People will think you're dating then. People are stupid like that. They always assume. You're just friends.

You and Newt managed to get to the second before last compartment of the seemingly endless train. You made your way to the door separating them both and placed your hand on the handle to pull it open before turning to look back to see if he was still behind you. He wasn't.

You scanned he flock of students in the cart, thinking that he may have not been able to get past a group. Your eyes searched for that unmistakable messy hair and soon you found him. Except he wasn't trapped... He was apart of the crowd?

You saw a girl, about your height, with silky black hair. She had already changed into her robes and was with a group of three other girls who you could only assume were her friends. You focused on her face, she was pretty, with smooth skin and mesmerising eyes, it was no wonder she had gotten friends already... Wait was she wearing makeup?! B-But she was a first year, so young!

You shook your head to snap you out of your thoughts. You were both First Years. And she coud wear whatever make-up she wanted. She'd have horrible skin later on at school but, well, that wasn't your problem now.

You made your way over to the crowd, noticing the girl had some kind of creature standing on her hand. Of course Newt had stopped. You sighed and gently tugged his sleeve to gain his attention. When he didn't respond you frowned and poked his arm. He was too caught up in the creature.

You huffed and folded your arms across your chest and scowled; Newt hated it when you did that. It meant you were very cross with him. You stood there waiting for him to notice before the girl pointed you out to him.

"I think she's trying to get your attention." She smirked as she scanned your form, watching as Newt toe his eyes away from the creature.

"What have I done?" He immediately said, looking at the expression on your face.

"Robes? Remember? Changing, now?" You said unbelievably, how could he forget?

"A-Ah, right, yes. But first I want you to meet someone... This is Leta, Leta Lestrange. And that is he bowtruckle, Fiddle." Newt grinned in excitement, gesturing to the two.

Leta seem unimpressed that Newt's attention had now fallen to you.

"Charmed, I'm sure." Leta said, rolling her eyes, "Hey Newt, do you want to hold Fiddle? He seems to like you!" Leta continued, causing Newt's attention to focus back on her.

"Pleasure is all mine." You replied sourly before tugging Newt away, "But we should be going, Leyla." You hissed before walking off with Newt, hearing him apologising to her.

God you felt so stupid. Why didn't you come up with a more witty remark?! Ugh, stupid, stupid, stupid!

You couldn't stop thinking about Newt and Leta, how sweet they would look together and how much of a rotten gooseberry she was. She wasn't good. You couldn't explain it. You just knew. Why were you acting like this? It was because Newt was your friend.

Your friend.

Nothing more.

Gosh, snap out of it already, [Y/N]!

Twenty minutes later and you and Newt were back in your apartment with your robes on. Newt hadn't stopped talking about Leta and it was starting to get irritating.

"I hope me and Leta can be friends, she's so smart and funny and sweet and kind. She likes animals you know, just like me! Oh, I do hope to see her again... Maybe we can be in the same house, oh that would be absolutely amazing! We could go to Honeydukes together and then after go and get butterbeer and I can show her my notes on magical creatures and then we can go find them. There's loads in the dark forest, apparently...."

You zoned out of his awestruck Leta speech and propped your elbow up on the windowsill, resting your chin in the palm of your hand.

It had been half an hour and Newt was still talking about Leta.

"Oh will you shut up about her? Gosh what is wrong with you? Leta this and Leta that! You met her once, for like five minutes! Stop making goo-goo eyes at her, Newt. She's not good. She's just going to use you!" You said in a fit of anger, causing him to stare at you.

"Yeah, you'd know all about using people, wouldn't you." Newt slipped out and you were shocked by his words. Even Newt seemed slightly shocked.

"Get out. If you want to see her so bad then get out and go find her!" You spat, turning away from the other to look out of the window.

"[Y/N]... I didn't mean it, I'm sorry." Newt comforted, moving over to you.

"Don't. Just get out!" You shoved him back and he simply sighed; exiting the cabin door.
