Rose's P.O.V
I woke up to the sound of trucks and men yelling. I looked over to my clock and saw it was 8:00 AM which means the new neighbors must b moving in from across the street. I wish my old neighbors stayed because they were always nice to my family and I and always made us feel welcome whenever we went over. Now, who knows what the new people are like, for all I know, their killers.
I managed to get out of bed sluggishly, sending shivers down my spin as the pads of my feet made contact with the floor. It's summer and fairly hot, but my mom likes to keep the air conditioning to 40 degrees. Don't ask, she just likes it. I peeked out of my white curtains and saw trucks and more trucks. The new people were no where near sight. I looked in the mirror and brushed my dark brown hair. Once it was tangle free, I put it into a messy bun and wiped the sleep away from my eyes.
"MORNING SWEETIE" My mom yelled right in my ear.
"Ow! Mom why are you yelling?! I'm right next to you"
"Sorry honey, I'm just excited" then she giggled like a little 5 year old before she continued. "The neighbors are finally here and I want you to take over a plate of chocolate chip cookies I'm making this evening." My mom always made the best chocolate chop cookies. Imagine heaven, then times it by 10, yeah.. That's how good they are.
"Ugh mom do I have to??" I whined while grabbing a banana out of the fruit bowl.
"Yes, you have to baby, we're being neighborly."
"Fine mom but please don't call me baby, I'm 17."
"I know Honey but you'll always be my baby."
Then She engulfed me in a bone crushing hug.
"Now go get dressed sweetie, we're going to go run a few errands."
With that, I ran up the stairs, nearly tripping over my own two feet. "Nice going there rose." I mumbled with annoyance and embarrassment even though no one saw.
