I opened my eyes for some reason and slowly got up from Dustin shoulder. Too my surprise I actually didn't move like I usually do when I sleep. There was one thing though, something made me wake up. Not like a push, "YO! WAKE UP" but more like natural. Nothing supernatural about it, but natural. For some reason I knew I had to get out of the church to find out, but the shadows worry me. Dustin did say they're more active at night like bats and things.
I headed down to the door. I looked, seeing everyone else was a sleep. Who knows what time is it right now. Once I reached the door I looked down to see a light seeping through it. That when I grabbed the door handle and walked out.
Everything was still dark except for a golden light ten feet in front of me. As I made my way to it, my angel hovered down.
"Welcome back," my angel said. I smiled. She looked me up and down.
"Oh, dear," she said. I looked at myself. I could see myself more clearly. "Come," she said. "I need to show you something, before your long journey."
"Long?" She nodded and the whole scene changed. I was back again at a hospital, but this one was different. This one was the place I always went and knew so well. I turned around to have a doctor walked right through me. It was Dr. Chase. I smiled, but that smiled faded after I remember where I'm really am.
I followed Dr. Chase into three different corridors until I saw my mom in the waiting room.
"Mrs. Cooks?" My mom looked at her, eyes touch with a bit a red. "You can go in." My mom nodded and I followed her. My mom stopped as she reach room 116. She took a breathe and stepped in. She shut the door in front of me, but I went right through it. I looked and saw I was on a machine. The one that puts oxygen into your body. She bent over at my bed side.
"This is my fault. We should have never went. Mostly we should have never-" she choked the last few words and I knew why. She shook her head.
"I'll never know what to do if I lost you." My face saddened.
"Time to go," said my angel. I looked once and nodded. The scene then changed back to where we were.
"Do you believe I'll make it." My angel didn't respond.
"It all depends what you want. Mostly what your Father wants. He'll help you the best He can." With that said she disappeared. I looked at the horizon to see sunlight rise. Another day to start a journey.
I walked back into the church to hear hustling and bustling. I looked to find Shena setting up equipment.
"What you doing?" I asked. She looked up at me.
"We're getting ready to go and find some dead people." She loaded up with rope.
"Why you need that then." She smiled.
"Something can't hurt us, but there are things that can." Mikey joined her.
"Here," he handed her a radio. I was totally confused now.
"We can use things that are real, but to alive people, they think it's some kind of hallucination or something." I nodded. Then Dustin came running up to us.
"Where the heck have you been." I looked at him.
"Outside?" He signed.
"He's been worry about you," said Mikey. Dustin hit him. "It's true," Mikey rubbed the back of his head.
"Don't worry about them. They have this all the time." said Shena. Dustin put a glow stick on his jean loop. I didn't ask why.
"Do you know where to go?" He asked me. I nodded.
"I have to head back home." He nodded.
"Come on," he gestured. "We need to get going."
We probably hiked about two hours, with some few exception. We managed to scare a bus full of kids, which I don't see how that was possible, but once your here, everything seems to change. We reached a city and that's when things change.
"You have to go," said Dustin. He seems to be saddened saying those few words.
"Why?"
"You have to get back. We're going to be here for a long while." Mikey cocked his shotgun.
"We have to helps other since we'll be here, maybe forever." My mind sadden. Dustin put his hand on my shoulder.
"When you need to rest, look for any church. They're always a refuge and maybe- you might see us." He looked as his friends. "And be safe." That said he's hand slid down my arm until it reached my hand. He held it there for a minute then pulled it away. I watched as they strolled down the block and disappeared.
Now it's just me again. I'm heading south to get back home. Who knows what things I might run into.
