I shoved him back and ran. I ran till I couldn’t breathe, I sat down on a corner and took shallow breaths. What was that? Is he insane? What do I do now? Do I go back, that would just be awkward. I start walking to the payphone to make a call to my Dad for him to come and get me.
“Finnley?” I turn around to see Jace driving up in his car.
Me: “Hey...”
“Do you need a ride? It’s freezing, c’mon.”
I open the door and sit down, this just turned weird and awkward really fast. His car was small the front seats were cleaned but a mountain of stuff was piled in the backseat.
Me: “So, I’m sorry about a couple nights ago, that was rude of me. Can you accept my apology?”
Jace: “Just for a beautiful girl.” My cheeks turn a new shade of red.
Me: “Maybe we can try a do-over date?”
Jace: “Sure, but sweetie you know I’m gay right?”
Me: “You are?” My face was probably priceless, my eyes wide and mouth open with shock. I never saw that coming.
Jace chuckled and grabbed ahold of my hand.
Jace: “Of course! Do you know a straight man that could dress like this?” He was wearing a teal V-neck with a scarf and blue jeans. How could I not realize?
Me: “Your so right, I never realized, well the population a girls everywhere are devastated.”
We both laugh and make small talk the rest of the way home. We get to the house and he drops me off.
Jace: “Girl, if you need anything just call. Okay?”
Me: “Okay, bye.” I wave goodbye as he pulls out of the driveway.
I unlock the door with my keys and walk inside to see none other than my one favorite person.
Avery. She was sitting on the couch with Bentley, trying to work her charm on him and apparently it was working. They were close, like her almost on top of him close.
I cough and Bentley pushed her off onto the floor and had a scared puppy look on his face.
Bentley: “Oh my god! Avery, I didn’t mean too!” I giggle to myself that was such a sight for me not to pass up on.
Me: “Shouldn’t you two get a room? Just make sure you get her tested first.”
Avery: “Please, don’t talk to me like I’m a dog, slut.”
Me: “Oh I’m a slut? Really at least I’m still a virgin and I don’t pretend to be to bed people. That’s a real slut.”
Avery: “Shut up and go upstairs, before I have to hurt you.” I drop my bag and begin walking towards her. Bentley just sits there shocked.
Me: “You hurt me? Bitch, you forgot I’m from city and country life, I will cut you and then shove my foot up your ass.” I spat in her face. I usually don’t use this much language but she just pushes me too far.
At this point, Bentley realizes what I’m about to do and he brings Avery upstairs, and gives me the ‘calm down’ look. I swear one of these days she is going to end up in a ditch somewhere.
I go into my room and open my laptop. Thirty emails, and fifteen Facebook messages Declan left me. I haven’t opened one. I’m still stressing over that issue. Why did he have to do it? I mean why ruin being best friends? Right now, I don’t need it. I guess I will just find out at school tomorrow.
