The next day the guilt I was harbouring did not go away. It knew it wouldn't in a mere twenty four hours but I had hoped for a miracle. I was sitting in world Literature still calculating my odds of having a minor stroke to let me go home. It was only Thursday how did time seriously move this slow? You'd think a being outside a realm of normal would get some time warping powers but no apparently becoming big and furry was much more useful.
Crack
Everyone jolted to attention as the loud speaker came alive. Our teacher groaned and sat back down but obviously didn't mind the interruption. "Hello F.S High!" I rolled my eyes a little at Hannah Peters voice, Hannah was a nasally sophomore who was in charge of the announcements along with her dorky counterparts Kade Mendez (he rapped attendance announcements) and Eli Deveaux who's voice was so boring I swear he cured insomnia.
"Sorry to interrupt your super fun classes but we are announcing the winners of homecoming king and Queen nominations! Our top three contenders of King and Queen are as follows..." I watched Tia suddenly straighten up "for our kings... Alexander Sanders (the attractive but arrogant baseball captain), George Strauss (I didn't know him well enough) and finally Harrison Grace!"
I watched everyone cheer at Harry's name and Tia kissed his cheek and it made my heart squeeze abit and not in a good way. "Now we all know what you really want to hear, the Queen nominees!" Everyone shuffled in their seats excitedly "Luna Ben..." Luna Ben was a nice cheerleader who was well liked and I guess was a natural choice. "Tia Summers..." that wasn't a shock and neither was the kiss she gave Harry again "an last but certainly not least... Abigail Gilbert!" What!? I looked up startled and Tia was now shooting daggers at me. No no this wasn't right I didn't campaign and I certainly did not want to be a homecoming queen.
I was already a queen already but this was one title I could live without and I couldn't help but notice Harry staring at me, his mouth slightly curved into a smile and he mouthed 'congratulations'. I point at him and mouthed 'you too' and perhaps I could use this to my advantage...

"No no no...EUGH HIDEOUS" That Saturday I had the pleasure of picking a homecoming dress with Evie. I had received so many congratulations on my nomination which I was still confused on how it happened. I pulled my navy blue wrap dress around me as Evie pushed through racks upon racks of clothes.
We had ended up at the Princess Fair Mall which was the main shopping hub of the town. I think we had gone through at least six dress shops some selling ugly taffeta dresses, others selling over priced ball gowns by women in jean jackets who looked very out of place but most were just not quite right.
We were now in shop number seven and Evie and I had a rule if we don't find anything after ten stores we just order something online or midnight shopping but it was looking bleak. "Evie can we please go and get something to eat?" I cried as I inspected a powder blue halter dress with a ruffled bottom. "No, we are almost at the perfect dress I can feel it"
I groaned loudly and probably more dramatic than necessary. The only things I had really eaten today was a instant noodle cup and I tipped half of it out because the packet was stale. Evie huffed angrily and said we could go and get some Chinese food from Cho Ens but I had to eat quickly.
~ 10 minutes and a serving of orange chicken later.. ~
"Okay your fed, now come on!" Evie grabbed my hand and dragged me along her blue scarf whipping behind and every so often it would hit me in the face. "Evie for heavens sake!" I kept groaning as she dragged me into shop number eight and I think Evie was getting impatient. We eventually stopped at a store called Mary's
which we hadn't noticed before, it must have been new."Look Abby, our luck is changing!" Evie pulled me in the store and I kind of gasped a little bit because there were rows of gorgeous dresses "oh." I could only say oh because these dresses were so pretty. "Hello welcome to Mary's" Evie and I turned to look at a brown haired girl wearing a violet dress sorting out papers. I ran my fingers over my dresses and I saw Evie stop in her tracks.
"Evie what's wrong?" I asked her "you'll never guess who else is here..." I followed her gaze and groaned.
I never seem to catch a break.
