After eating the cookies and burning my tongue on the hot chocolate, I decided to turn my phone back on and listen to music while reading some fanfiction based on my favorite show, Star V.S. The Forces of Evil. I was so into the story that I forgot I wasn't home alone.
"What the what!?" I screamed. I was over-excited and fangirling so hard. My mother came rushing in the room and asked me what was wrong. "Oh, nothing. Sorry, I was reading." My mother sighed and playfully hit my head with a dish towel. I laughed as I apologized once more.
Later in the night, my window burst opened and a gust of wind and snow came in making my room freezing. I went to close it and saw a snow message that read..."'Do you wanna have a snowball fight.'?" I looked around and saw no one. I shrugged my shoulders and shut the window. My room was now cold and damp from the snow. I brushed my white hair behind my ear and laid in bed. I looked at the time and it read 2: 34 am. "Already?!" I yelled in a hushed voice to myself. I cursed the wonderful fanfiction for making me stay up so late when I have school in the morning. I locked my phone and set it down on my dresser, looking at the Forget-Me-Not flowers and the poem from my birth mom. That night I went to sleep with a smile. I didn't think about the break up at all after that.
Monday morning. The worst of all mornings. It was nice and warm under the layers of fluff and I did not want to get up, but I knew I had to before Mother came up and literally drag me out of bed herself. I reluctantly got up and headed for the shower. I turned on the water and stripped naked then stepped into the warm shower. I made sure to clean the dirt and snow from my body.
When I got out I brushed my teeth and dressed into a baby blue long sleeved shirt and a white sweater vest. I pulled on some of my warmest denim jeans and fluffy socks, then grabbed my old dusty boots and shoved them on my feet. I curled my hair a little and drew my small initial Forget-Me-Not flower at the corner of my right eye. Coloured in and everything. Mother called for me saying that I was going to miss the bus if I didn't hurry. I sighed and headed for the door.
"Look at you!" My mother gaped. "You look so beautiful."
"Thanks Mom." I smiled. I kissed her good-bye as I saw the bus stop in front of my home. I trudged out the house and entered the school bus where I saw mostly freshmen throwing paper around. When the bus unexpectedly began to move, I lost balance and almost fell over if it wasn't for some guy. I apologized and thanked him. He smiled at me and I smiled back just to be nice. I headed for my usual spot in the very back of the bus. I pulled out my phone and custom made head phones and listened to music.
The bus had finally stopped at the front of the school, or as I like to call it, hell. Luckily this was my last year here and then I would never have to deal with high school ever again. Only college and a job and a life. I stepped off the bus and looked up. Once again it was snowing lightly. The puffs of snow look so beautiful I can't help but take a moment to admire how it really looks. I saw another snowflake and had to resist the impulse to catch it like the last time. I shook my head and focused on getting through the day.
I looked at the clock and out the window multiple times during class. It was barely the second class and I couldn't wait any longer. My knee bounced up and down eagerly just waiting to go and play in the snow. My teacher was trying to get my attention and finally did.
"Evelyn, are you alright?"
"N-no. Can I go to the nurse?" I asked. She nodded and I quickly grabbed my belongings and headed to the nurse. The nurse was wearing a white t-shirt and the bottom nurse's uniform. She asked what was wrong and I told her I just wanted to go home. Luckily, the nurse is really cool with some students. She nodded and gave me a note saying I had permission to walk home. I thanked her as I took the note.
