It was finally the day Jack and I or David and I would go out and hang. No signs showed that Jack was coming back anytime soon, so I called David and asked if we could still hang out. Over the phone, David had sound extremely happy. I just wished I had gotten him something for the holiday season.
I walked through the living room and admired the Christmas tree that stood proudly by the wall. I told my mom that I was going out and that I put her present under the tree. Tomorrow was Christmas and I was so excited to see what the look on her face will be when she sees the necklace.
"Be safe." She called back.
"I will. Love you!"I met up with David at the coffee shop. We talked and then decided to walk around. Staying in one spot was not so fun. Everything seemed fine until I saw a shadowy figure in the distance. My mind thought about the man that was in my room. I shook my head and tried to ignore it. It was difficult because he kept sending me evil smirks from the distance. David asked if I was feeling fine.
"Yeah. I'm fine. Let's... Go this way." I led David somewhere more secluded in hopes of ditching the man. It didn't work. I began thinking if this would be the day I would die.
"Evelyn. You look pale. Are you sure you're feeling alright? I can take you home if you want." I didn't want to let this freak ruin a good day.
"No. Really, I'm fine."
"Why do you keep looking around? Is someone there?" That's right! He can't see him. I shook my head and asked if he would get me an ice cream. He questioned me and went anyway. There was a small 7 11 right across the street from us. Once he was mostly out of view and hearing distance, the gray-skinned man stood next to me. I felt fear rise in my throat and chills run down my body. He said nothing. He stroked my hair behind my ear and whispered, "You better hope that Frost will come for you before you die." I shudder as his breath hits my skin. "You really are beautiful. It is such a shame I have to do this."
"N-no. You don't have to."
"Oh, but I'm afraid I do." With that I was consumed by darkness. When I was able to see, I found myself laying in the snow bound by black sand. The man stood me up aggressively and I couldn't hold back tears. I knew what was coming but I didn't know when.
"Shut up!" I flinched and held back my tears as best I could. I mentally plead for Jack to keep his promise and protect me. Soon I saw Jack rushing in, staff in hand, ready to fight.
"Jack. Help me." I mumbled as I sob.
"You're going to be ok. Remember I promised?" I vigorously nod my head as I plead for it to be true. Although I know it's not.
"Evelyn, have any last words?"
"Pitch! Leave her out of this! She doesn't have anything to do with this!" Jack yelled.
"Jack," I sob, " will you make sure my mom will be ok? Please?"
"You're going to be fine."
"Is that all you have to say? Well then..." I felt a sharp object pierce through my chest. Already I feel woozy and feel my consciousness slipping away. I heard Jack yell and charge to me as the man, Pitch, slipped away into the shadows.
Everything happened just like in the dream. I couldn't talk and I couldn't move. My blood stained the snow. It was getting late and Jack was still with me not know what to do except tell me I would be fine. The last thing I saw was the big full moon. It shined brightly and I could've sworn I saw it smile proudly. Then again that just might've been the lack of blood and me dying. Finally, everything was numb and I saw nothing but dark.
