Mitch laid down on his bed whilst holding a bag of ice against his cheek.
Esther stood next to him, rubbing his shoulder for comfort.
"I hope you get better. You sure you don't want to come down for dinner? We're having-"
"I'm fine, Esther. Thanks. I'm just not feeling too well and I don't want to ruin you guys' fun time."
"Well alright then," Esther smiled sadly and quietly walked to the door.
She looked through the peep hole to see everyone standing out in the hallway, awaiting for something to happen.
Esther gently opened the door, exited, and closed it behind her.
Once she turned around, Mitch's concerned boyfriend spoke up immediately.
"What the f*** is going on with him?"
"Woah, honey. I gave him some ice and he said he isn't feeling well. So he's gonna pass on dinner."
Scott whimpered in fear. "Why? Doesn't he want to at least hang out with us?"
Esther sighed sadly.
"He doesn't want to ruin our quote on quote fun time."
Scott's heart sank as he looked to the rest.
Everyone had that look of sadness written on their faces.
Scott looked back to Esther.
"Well.. w-well we got to do something! Who knows what he could be doing in there! He could be self-shaming himself..."
"Scott..." Kirstie started.
"Or cutting..."
Scott's breathing increased.
"Calm down..." Kirstie tried again.
Tears started surfacing.
"Or overdosing..!" Scott started to bubble up with fear.
Scott started heading to the door knob.
"Scott!" Kirstie grabbed Scott's shoulders to keep him down.
Scott's blue eyes looked to Kirstie.
He was full on sobbing at this point.
"We need to trust Mitch. There's nothing else we can do. If we just go in, we could frighten him. He'll do whatever he wants when we leave that room. We need to count on Mitch on this one. Let him think alone. But, I should stay behind to make sure he doesn't go anywhere... bad."
Avi placed his hand on Kirstie's shoulder.
"No, I'll stay. I want to make sure Mitch is okay too."
"No, I will. I'm willing to stay here for as long as it takes," Kevin stepped in.
"Guys, I should. I'm the tour manager, and I should be looking out for you guys, including Mitch."
Scott immediately shook his head.
"N-no, I'm staying behind. This is my boyfriend and I need to be the one to protect him. I love him so much, too much to let him go. To lose him. I can't risk losing him again. I need to stay."
Everyone looked to him.
His words convinced everyone to let him stay.
"Alright", Avi said, "I'll give you my room key so you can keep an eye out from a good distance."
