Adam groaned as he heard the voices, he had thought the world was fucking with him when he heard the first voice. He'd been hearing voices for a long time now, and he was never quite sure if someone was actually there or if it was just in his head.As the first plank of wood was pried back he got his answer, he had been found.
As he was pulled out of the hole he'd been in and the light hit his eyes for the first time in forever, he screamed out in pain...the pain was unbearable and he dropped like a ton of bricks.
"Ruzek!" Kevin kneeled beside him, "get a paramedic! He's lost consciousness!" He kneeled over his best friend's body.
He knew it was Adam, but it didn't look anything like Adam. His face was bruised and swollen, he'd lost a significant amount of weight and his hair was a shade of blonde that was only found in a bottle.
Kevin backed up when a paramedic raced over, "Is he ok?" Kevin asked he brought his fists to his mouth, "is he ok? Is he breathing?"
The paramedic nodded, "He's breathing..barely. He's in rough shape...someone get me a blanket...I need to cover his face." It was clear he'd been in the hole for a long time and his eyes were sensitive to the light, "We need to move..headed to Mercy Hospital."
Erin was thankful for the battalion chief who had offered to drive them to the hospital. Under normal circumstances she could keep her wits about her and she wouldn't get too high or low...but this wasn't normal. A member of their team had been missing for a nearly a week by the Feds estimate, and he'd finally been found but that was all she knew. They had no idea what condition Adam was in, or where he had been found.
Kim had to be helped into the chief's truck and she hadn't said much, "Kim, you alright?" Erin ran her hand over Kim's thigh.
Kim clutched a tissue in her hand, "No..." she bit her bottom lip, "did they...did they say if he's alright...is he hurt?"
"They didn't say, Kim." Erin wish she had more to offer Kim, "We're almost there..right?"
The chief looked in the rear view mirror, "Almost, about ten more minutes."
"Get out!" The resident screamed, he was trying to assess Adam but every time he attempted to move he ran into another body, "I can't help him...if you're all crowded in here...get out!"
Voight wrangled them all together, "Out. C'mon. Let's go." He knew this was hard for all of them, but Al and Kevin had taken it the hardest. He looked over his shoulder at the doctor, "Will you let us know how he is?"
"Absolutely." He never lifted his eyes off Adam.
Kim flew out of the truck as it came to stop in front of the hospital, she had been frozen in place when they first got the call, that was no longer the case.
She ran through the doors not even waiting for Erin and the chief to catch up, she needed to get to Adam.
Kevin was staring at a speck on the wall, his head snapped up as he heard her.
"Kevin! Where's Adam? Is he okay.." she grabbed Kevin as soon as he stood up, "have you seen him? Is he alright.."
Kevin hugged her, "He's in bad shape..." he wasn't going to lie to her, "he was out of it when we found him, he was mumbling something as we pulled him out of the hole...then he screamed out in pain..and dropped." He helped Kim sit down, "He was roughed up pretty good."
