No Mans Trust

A/N. Sorry for the delay, had problem with school stuff. I wanna inform that the next to chapters will be a prequel about what all actually happened. Also explanation about the Civil War that everyone kept talking about. Enjoy!

As Slater kept trying to walk up the stairs, he felt as though his wounds would open any second. But that's not what was bothering him much, it was the time all of this started that was bothering him. Slater finally remembers.

15 years ago

Lieutenant commander: All right! Everyone line up!

As he said that, all the soldier came and stood in their formation.

Lieutenant commander: As you all know it's been a week since the New Year, so you know what this means. We got more youngsters coming to join the army, and they know what it takes to be a soldier, that's why they are willing to risk their lives in order to protect the United States of America and serve the country with honor and respect. As usual, these youngsters will be put in a group of 5 and I'll assign a leader for each group. Ryan Leonardo! Though you are very young and your students will be of the same age as you, I'll make you the leader of Group 3. Don't screw this up just because it is your first time, you may be young, but you're the strongest leader.
Ryan: I accept! So when are we starting?
Lieutenant commander: Training begins next week, for now, settle things and show them around, that's all.
Ryan: Yes commander!
Lieutenant commander: You may leave with your group. I'll now assign the leader for Group 1.

Ryan then took his comrades to his tent, to his surprise, he met Jacob. He couldn't believe it, so just to confirm, he asked for his name first.

Ryan: What's your name soldier?
Jacob: You know who I am, Ryan, it's me Jacob.
Ryan: (smiles) so you decided to become a soldier.
Jacob: (sigh) I'll stay here only till I get my revenge, but now, as a kid, I have no power to do so. I, alone, want to get my revenge, that's why I need you to train me. And I don't care how long it takes, I won't stop till I kill that man.
Ryan: Looks like you have a Creed.
Jacob: Call it whatever you want, I won't go down on my words.

The other comrades looked at Jacob with a depressed face. The Ryan walked towards Jacob and gave him a pat on the shoulder.

Ryan: You have been my friend ever since we met in school, the least I can do is help you get your revenge. But don't think this as a walk in the park, it will take lot of time to become a professional soldier.
Jacob: I'm always ready.
Everyone: And we are too!

Ryan gave a laugh and left his comrades in their tent. That's when Ryan thought to himself .

Ryan: I'll do my best for everyone.

2 weeks later

Ryan was in the training room with his comrades, they were all doing target practice. Everyone was doing fine except Jacob, as Ryan looked on.

Ryan: Come on Jacob, think of the reason you came here, focus, think of the target as the murderer. Always have the intent to kill. There's more ammo in the supply box room, reload and try again.
Jacob: Fine.

Jacob then went to the supply room and started looking for the ammo. He found a box, thought there was ammo in there and then opened it. He didn't find ammo, but instead more guns. He then pulled out the rifle which caught his eye at first sight and found out that it was loaded. Ryan also came in the supply room, wondering what was taking Jacob so long.
