Chicago, Illinois"I just think it's a little bit early to freeze your eggs." She flips through my chart as we're conversing. Dr. Judy Prescott is my gynecologist. She has been since 1987 and I don't predict any other doctor looking between my legs any time soon. "You're extremely fertile, Chanel, and you will be for the next ten years or so. You can slow down."
"Ten?"
Dr. Prescott laughs, still flipping through the pages of information my chart provides. "Well, maybe not ten... But you have time! All of your tests are superb, honestly!" Sighing, I fall back on the examination table. "You can slow down, Chanel. In fact, if you want to keep your body in tact to have those babies in these upcoming years, you need to slow down. Stress won't do anything but speed up that process."
"Okay, okay."
"I wouldn't lie to you. Looking at your chart, you're one of the most fertile women on paper that I've met in my fifteen years of doing this."
I pause.
Now that is something quite uplifting to hear. To know that five years from now, when I'm guaranteed to be settled, I can have all of the children I'd like is all I want. Today has been filled with good news and Judy is adding to the pile. I can't think anything that'll ruin my day today.
"That is great news!" I laugh a lot harder than I intend to. I can't stop smiling. My cheeks are going to start burning soon.
And with that being said, I'm driving myself home in a moment of glee, Mike trailing behind me in his own vehicle.
This morning there was joy in my heart for I know that I love you so. Scrambled eggs are so boring, for you're all, all that I want to know. Kisses never lie when delivered with milk from your lips. Morning glories never cry. My love for you, baby, drips!
Doing almost 100 mph on my way home, I am overjoyed that Prince & The Revolution song was gifted to me by my stereo. Life Can Be So Nice brightens my days with so much ease, making it one of my most favorited songs in this world. "Oh, life can be so nice! It's a wonderful world, sweet paradise! Kiss me once, kiss me twice! Life can be so nice, so nice!" I scream out at the top of my lungs.
No one plays the clarinet the way you play my heart. I come a thousand different ways before I even start!
"You're so nice!" As I sit at the light waiting for it change colors I notice people pointing, Mike being the only one pointing and laughing from behind me.
