Jack was standing at the edge of the roof, staring at the concrete. The rain was stinging his face, mixing with his tears. He met as many fans as he could because he knew. Jack knew he was going to do this. He had been so strong for a year. He'd gone a solid year without Mark. He knew he couldn't go any longer. He couldn't even think about going any longer without Mark.

"Jack!" He heard Jaycee cry from behind him.

He turned around to face her. "Jaycee, please," He said weekly.

"Jack, I can't! You did so well! You're doing so well!"

"Jaycee! I said I can't! You know I can't! You've seen it!" Jack cried.

"Okay. Jack," Jaycee said cautiously, taking small steps towards him. "I understand you're not one-hundred percent right now, but we can get there,"

"What do you know, Jaycee! You always told me I'd be okay! Well, guess what. I'm not!"

"Jack! I know you can! You just have to try!"

"I'm tired of trying, Jaycee!!"

"Jack!"

"I can't try anymore! I can't even try to try!" Jack shouted at her, turning around to face the busy street below him.

Jaycee pried her high heels off her feet and threw them aside. She started sprinting at him. Time slowed as she flew at him. She almost fell three times. The rain and her tears had blurred her vision. She didn't know what she'd do when or even if she'd get to him in time. She had to though. The door flew open behind her.

"Jaycee!"

A voice she knew was Felix's called. She wasn't going to stop. She just kept running, staring at Jack. The wind was blowing his hair to the left, and he had his arms open like he was a bird about to take off.

"J-Jack!" Jaycee yelled out of breath.

"Jaycee, Jaycee, Jaycee," Jack said, still facing the street. "You yelling at me isn't going to make me turn around. You do understand that right?"

Jaycee stopped running. "Yeah," she said.

"You know, your favorite book is The Fault In Our Stars. Well, I know that Augustus Waters had his cigarette metaphor. You know, the one where he put the killing thing in his teeth, but he didn't give it the power to kill? Well, Jaycee, this is my "metaphor". The killing thing is right underneath me. But the difference between Augustus's metaphor and mine is, I'm going to give mine the power to kill. You telling me to try isn't going to make me not jump. There is nothing you can do to stop me,"

"Jack," Jaycee said, running again. "But I can try to stop you,"

"Jaycee, trying doesn't fix anything. I've tried and it doesn't work."

Jaycee was now sprinting at him. She could hear Felix chasing after her. Jaycee lunged at Jack. She stretched out her hand as far as she could. She was so close. She almost grabbed him. She was just inches away.

"I can't try anymore. I can't try anymore. I can't try anymore!!" Jack screamed.

And with those final words, Jack jumped to his death. When he hit the ground, he saw someone. Someone with beautiful brown eyes, glasses and red hair.
