Newt took you to his home on winter holiday. You really didn't feel like going back to your muggle parents' house. They didn't approve of magic and basically disowned you. Newt took you in though in fifth year. Him and you would sneak out in the middle of the night and feed the giant squid in the black lake. He admired your curiousness and fed it eagerly. When he heard about your parents, he didn't hesitate to invite you to Christmas.

On the train you and Newt had a car to yourself. Everyone found the two of you annoying. "You won't believe what I found yesterday!" Newt says excitably, reaching into his suitcase he carried everywhere. He pulled out a tint black creature with a long bill-like nose. "It's a niffler!" He smiled, "I never thought I'd find one at hogwarts but I did!" You always enjoyed Newt most when he was like this. His smile just lit up the whole room.

When you arrive at the station, Newt is greeted by his father, mother, and brother who puts him in a headlock playfully. You stay behind and watch the happy family scene wishing you could have had that. "Y/n! Come on!" Newt said cheerfully fixing his hair. You put on a smile and join them. When you get outside there is no car. You wonder how you will be getting to their house. Mrs Scamander turns to you, "You aren't afraid of heights deary are you?" You feel sick to your stomach just thinking about it. Mrs Scamander notices, "You'll ride with Newt then" she points to the goofball clutching his case. She puts her fingers in her mouth and whistles. About five minutes later, four ginormous bird like creatures come flying down. Each member of the family bows to them and gets on. You are petrified. You feel Newt take your hand and tells you to copy his movements, never letting go of your hand. He mounts the creature and helps you onto its back. He kicks it and you clutch tightly around Newt's waist. He laughs with delight, "Oh go on  Y/n you never rode a hippogriff before?"

"Newt I swear if you say one more word" you say into his shoulder as you were clinging onto him like a koala. He laughs and whoops. Thankfully, you hit the ground soon and you basically fall into Newt. "Woah, hey! You okay?" He asks pulling you up. "Never again Scamander" you try to laugh. He smiles and braces you on his shoulder taking you inside.
