Jyn Erso and Captain Cassian Andor embrace as a wave of death rushed towards them. The wind howled loudly and the sky was so bright. Only minuet until their lives are crushed. They hang onto each other as they try to hang onto the bitter sweet moment. That is, the end of their lives.
Suddenly a ship zooms to a stop beside them. A young imperial officer's frantic face is before them with an outstretched hand.
"Come on!" He screams.Jyn sits on the floor of an imperial cruiser that's barely making it through dark space. Cassian lays unconscious next her her. She's dazed. Everything happened so quick. But they had done it.
They had beamed the plans, Stardust, to anyone who could receive it. Although Cassian was doubtful, Jyn knew someone had
received it. She just knew. After they had essentially excepted their death, a second chance arose. But that chance was almost short lived. They had only just nearly escaped death a second time. Cassian had somehow been able to drag himself to the cockpit, and push the oblivious cadet aside to fly them out of the reaches of Scarif's deadly debris. They wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for Cassian's dedication and expertise. He had passed out just as they left Scarif's atmosphere.
Even now, as she held his hand, she wondered how he had done it all. He had somehow worked through his immense pain after his fall, to climb to the satellite control pad. Just in time to save her life. There were four storm trooper cadets, and the one junior imperial officer on the ship with them. Jyn was still baffled at how they had stopped to save them. Imperials saving rebels. But why?
"We can't go back to command! They just vaporized our entire base. An imperial base. You think they give a bloody damn about us?" Jensen, the junior officer shouted.
"But where else would we go?" One of the cadets asked, Blaze, as he was known by his fellow stormtrooper trainees. Due to his blazing bright, red head.
"Why not go to a Star Destroyer? We are servants to the empire. We live to serve them. There are always casualties to war. Sometimes you have to destroy your own base to save the fleet. We have rebel captives. We'll be crowned heroes of the empire when we get back to the fleet. We will get back to the fleet." A cadet who went by his numbers, 714, but everyone called Sevens.
"Watch yourself, you know nothing of war. You are not yet a trooper. You have not seen combat." Jensen warned the eager young man.
"But we have pledged our loyalty to the empire! It is our duty to turn these rebel scum in, despite what the empire has done to us."
"And you know we can hear you right?" Jyn added, causing the arguing to stop for a moment, then continue on as if she and Cassian weren't even there.
"We will not turn them in to the empire." Jensen replied. "We are not going back. Since I am the highest ranking officer on this shuttle. I order that you set a corse for Corellia."
"If you abandon the empire, you abandon your rank." Sevens said with serious eyes.
"With or without my rank, you all own me a life debt. Had it not been for me, you would all have died back there at the hands of our comrades. Once we get to Corellia, you can go back to the empire, but I will not be joining you."
The room fell to silence. The cadets soon followed their orders without question. Life debts were a serious matter, not even the empire could scruff that out.
Although the issue of what would happen to Jyn and Cassian wasn't addressed. Jyn had something she hadn't been in possession of for a long time. Hope. A new hope, that everything was happening as it should, as the Force willed it.
