Chapter 2

"I'm Mayor Mills, but you can call me Regina." That's what she said to me. I'm not sure why her voice is ringing through my ears, it's been an hour. It's probably because I need to pay her back in some way. I can't with money, not at the price that this motel is charging.

As I'm laying here pondering I hear a knock on the door. I prop myself up on my elbows. Perhaps it is someone here to see Regina? Maybe it is Regina. I push myself off the bed and go open the door. Outside is a very handsome man with a badge. I raise my eyebrows. "Can I help you?" I ask as a smile spreads across his face.

"I was sent by Mayor Mills to retrieve you. You have dinner plans. Grab your coat we're going." He says before gesturing to my red leather jacket on my bed. I grab it and follow the officer.

"So the cops work for the Mayor here?" I say trying to make small talk. 

"The cop. I'm a one man task force. And yes." He says  with a laugh. I bite my lip as he looks at me.

"Well how far away is she?" I ask and he walks me up a driveway to a beautiful mansion. "Never mind." I say causing him to laugh. As we make our way up the stairs he stops me.

"You seem like a nice person and you shouldn't get involved with her." He says his face flashing with an emotion I can only call concern.

"Excuse me?" I say with curiosity filling my mind.

"She is toxic and you seem like someone who deserves better than that." He says taking as step closer to me. I roll my eyes and turn walking the rest of the way to her door.

"I'm having dinner with the Mayor and you are just horny." I say and shoot him a wink. "Visit me at 8." I say before knocking on the door. The door opens and reveals the woman who was paying for my living arrangements, in a robe. I cleared my throat and shook my head. "Well if this is a bad time I can just come back lat-"

"Miss Swan please come inside." She says and I oblige. She looked nice, the robe hugged her figure. I didn't realize that we were that level of friends yet but if she thinks so the so be it. She shuts the door behind me leaving the Officer outside.

"Girls night? Mayor not to be rude but I don't know you well enough to braid your hair and gossip about boys." I say to her as she turns towards me with a smile playing at her features.

"Miss Swan, I didn't call you hear to braid my hair, rather to have a couple drinks and eat some food." She says before walking off toward the kitchen. She realizes that I'm not following and spins around. "Miss Swan I know that I look good but you need to follow me if you want to get drinking." She says and I roll my eyes following her.
