Chapter 10

I'm sitting in Granny's looking through the paper for any ads about a place to work when someone slides into the booth, sitting across from me. I look up and see Regina's kid.

"Henry, what? Where's your mom?" I ask him not seeing Regina anywhere. He smiles and looks at the paper.

"You're staying?" He says and his eyes are lighting up.

"You didn't answer my question." I say and he looks at me with distaste.

"Regina is not my Mom. My Mom is in Tallahassee. I wanna go there and meet her." He says and I raise an eyebrow.

"You do do you? Well that's quite the trip. Do you know her name?" I say and look at the kid. I was in his shoes at one point, only I never found a lead on where mine could have been.

"Yeah it's funny you and her have the same first name. She's Emma Cassidy though, well that's if she shares the same last name as my birth certificate says I have." He says and I would have spit out my drink if I'd had a sip. There's a reason that kid has Neal's eyes. It's cuz he's Neal's kid, and my kid.

"Kid, don't go to Florida. She's closer than you think." I say and he rolls his eyes at me.

"But I have to bring her here."

"Why?"

"To stop the curse! I have to bring her here soon, her 28th just happened and she can't be much later." He says and I stifle a laugh.

"Kid why do you think she is going to break the curse? How is she gonna break the curse?" I ask more for my own sake. If I'm supposed to be breaking a curse then I would obviously need to know how.

"Because she is the product of true love. And obviously with True Loves Kiss." He says and I raise an eyebrow at him. "Fine don't believe me, you don't need to she does." He says and moves to leave the diner.

"Wait kid, I gotta tell you something." I say and he turns to look and possibly pay attention. "I know your mom." I say and he quickly gets back in the booth.

"And you didn't say anything. Where is she? Is she in Tallahassee?" He asks and I laugh slightly.

"You're sitting across from her." I say and his eyes grow wide.

"Wait what caused you to come here?" He asked and my heart broke in my chest. I couldn't tell him it was because I was running from his father. I couldn't do that to him. He was so excited to be finding his parents and I knew how that felt.

"Getting away from someone." I say and he nods and then opens his storybook. "Do you take that thing with you everywhere you go?" I asked him and he looked up at me.

"You need to come meet my teacher." He says and then bolts out of the cafe.

"Henry! Crap sorry. I'll pay you when I get back?" I say turning to Ruby. She just smiles and nods and motions for me to chase after him. I smile appreciatively and bolt out after him.
