Chapter 13

I walked into Granny's and smiled at Ruby before taking out my wallet and paying for the meal I'd had at the beginning of the day.

"Take a seat and finish reading your paper. Grilled Cheese with a side of onion rings coming up." She says and I smile taking my paper from her. I just take a seat at the bar and take a pen out of my pocket. I see an opening at the local market and circle it. I'm not exactly a costumer service person but if I have to I will. I hear someone sit next to me but don't pay attention.

"Well then guess I don't matter enough to earn her attention." I hear the cop say. I sigh and roll my eyes.

"How can I help you officer?" I say not removing my eyes from the wanted ads.

"Check into that one." He says and points at one of the ads. It is calling for a deputy. I close my paper and turn to him.

"I'm checking into it. What does it entail?" I ask and he shrugs.

"A good reputation with the Sheriff. Being on call at any and all times. Carrying a gun. Owning a uniform." He says listing different things about the job. I smirk.

"How do I apply?" I ask and he just smiles.

"Let me buy your dinner." He says and I nod yes quite quickly. A good girl never says no to a free meal. Besides perhaps I could actually enjoy an evening with him. "I also have to ask a few questions about your job history and such." He says and I shake my head.

"Well then I'm not gonna get this job." I say and he raises an eyebrow at me.

"I doubt that, I'm a bit biased." He says and then leans close to me to whisper in my ear, "I'm sorry for how quickly things happened last night. If you let me try again then I can promise you that it will be the night of your life." He then pulls away from my face and I raise an eyebrow at him with a bit of a laugh on my lips. I wasn't sure he knew what he was getting into saying that.

"Oh really? I'm sorry but I think you would have to show me." I say with a smirk playing at my lips. He raised an eyebrow and smirked right as my food arrived. I quickly turned and took a bite of the sandwich when I heard someone say my name. I turned around and saw the Kid there again. "Henry what are you doing here?" I asked him and he shook his head.

"I need you." He said and quickly dragged me off my stool.

"Officer if you want we can continue this interview in my room so long as I have food." I say as the Kid pulls me out the door. I yank my hand free and rotate my shoulder a couple times. "Damn kid, that's quite the grip you've got there."

"No time we need to go now."

"Go where?"

"Dad. He's in a huge fight with Mom and she needs backup." Henry says and I nod and we run to the Mayor's Mansion. I don't even knock I just walk through the door and straight where I hear the yelling. I see Daniel and his hand is raised toward her, as if he is going to hit her.

"Hey back up." I say and Regina's head snaps towards me and she looks at me confused until she sees Henry who has his arms around my legs. Daniel turns towards me and he raised an eyebrow.

"Who do you think you fucking are?" He said and I immediately covered Henry's ears.

"Who do I think I am? Her friend and his birth mother." I say and then cringe. That wasn't how I planned on telling Regina,  hell I just found out.

"Wait Emma-" Regina starts but I cut her off.

"Wasn't how I planned to tell you Reg but its true. Henry was talking about how he was going to go find his birth mom and told me some details and I realized why he looked so familiar." I said and saw Daniel just standing there laughing.

"Your new fuck friend is our sons birth mother? That's messed even for you." Daniel said laughing.

"Watch your mouth!" I say rather loudly before removing my hands from Henry's ears. He quickly runs upstairs and I shoot Daniel a very dirty look. I point to the door and he knows what I mean. He turns toward Regina again giving her a wink and then leaving.

"How did you know to come here?" Regina asked and I smiled.

"Henry came and got me." I say and smirk slightly.
