Jackie glanced over at us and gave us a soft smile. "I-I just don't know. Rose. Honey. You're so young. Global travel with a guy you just met? Are you sure about this?" The Doctor looked down at me. I returned his look, then turned back to my mother.
"Mum. There has always been other guys, always. This one is different though. I promise!" Jackie still looked unconvinced. The Doctor cleared his throat, "If I may cut in?" He asked looking for permission. Jackie nodded and sat back in her seat. "Jackie, your daughter means the world to me. I would do anything she asked upon request. Anything. She is the strongest, most independent, brilliant person I have ever met on this planet. She is as radiant as the sun, and more clever than any professor I've ever discussed with. She is just fantastic and she is just her. That's all I ever want her to be. Even if she does want to come home I'll send her here fully paid for even though it'll leave my hearts in two."
Jackie wiped a small tear from her eye. "Doctor. You are such a nice young man and I trust you wholeheartedly in these matter of minutes. I-I just need more details. I'd like to know where my little girl is going." The Doctor nodded. "You will. We can send postcards and pictures from every single city we visit. I can promise you will receive updates weekly." Jackie nodded and then looked at me. "Mum," I started. "I'm not a little girl anymore. I live my own life everyday and you now are refusing to let me have the experience of a lifetime with someone I love?"
My mother seemed hurt by that one. The Doctor and I had been so persuasive and had remained hand in hand. He squeezed mine reassuringly. Jackie hadn't spoke for awhile, and neither had we. It was an awkward silence. I looked to the Doctor to say something. Waiting for him to say something clever. Something brilliant. Yet it never came.
Jackie was looking at the floor. Eventually she started nodding. She looked up, her eyes red and puffy. "Yes, yes." she finally said, "I'll let you go." And with that she broke into a smile. The Doctor jumped up, pulling me up with him. He then pulled me into his arms for a huge hug. He kissed my forehead. I laughed and looked up at him. "I love you." He whispered. My smile grew wider and I whispered back, "I love you too." I stood on my tippy toes and have him a small sweet kiss.
My mother was sipping her tea and laughing in her chair. "You two are adorable. Now Rose you better get packing. When are you leaving?" The Doctor checked his watch. It was around 1:30 pm. "Our plane is picking us up at 5. They will take us to our first destination which is a surprise." Jackie nodded. "Go on Rose go pack." I nodded and walked down the hall to my room. My mother then showed the Doctor around, showing him family pictures and things related to that matter.
All of this made me super happy. I'm glad my mum liked the Doctor. Then again, he was brilliant. Who couldn't love him? I sighed and began packing. I just grabbed a few things of extra clothes and other various needs. I also bothered to grab my cellphone and three that in my backpack to. The last thing I grabbed was 100$. I walked back out and my mum was showing the Doctor photos of my dad. He had died in a car accident early in my life.
The Doctor looked at me and smiled. "Ready?" I nodded. He walked over and took my hand. Jackie looked at me in surprise. "Is that all your taking?" I shook my head no. "I grabbed a lot of money to spend on more cultural clothes." Jackie smiled. "Alrighty then." She drew the Doctor and I for a big hug. "I hope you both have a wonderful time." I nodded. "Goodbye mum, love you." The Doctor held open the door for me and waved with one hand. "Nice meeting you Miss Tyler!" Jackie nodded and the Doctor closed the apparent meant door. "Cultural clothes?" He asked in a playful tone as he rested his hands on my waist. I laughed and threw my arms around his neck. He drew me closer to him, pressing his mouth to mine.
