Y/N POV
I made it through the first week of my senior year. My nose gave me some problems but I made it through. After going through my little cop situation my dad and I have started communicating more. Like for instance this morning my dad and I went to the store to get a new lock for the front door now we're getting breakfast at the diner. We asked Lacey if she wanted to come but the princess needed her beauty rest.
"I'm glad that we finally got a new lock for that door." Dad said.
"Me too. I'm not trying to end up in a jail cell again." I said.
"I don't ever want to see you in that police station again." Dad said.
"I understand dad." I said.
Aunt Viv came by and gave my father and I hug. "What can I get y'all to drink?" She asked.
"Coffee." I said.
"I'll have a coffee too." Dad said.
"Two coffees coming right up." Aunt Viv said.
I continued looking at the menu and everything looked good. I was having trouble deciding wether I wanted a cheeseburger for breakfast or actual breakfast food.
"Here are your coffees."
I looked up and Normani was standing at our table. She looked so pretty in her waitress outfit. "Hi Y/N." She said.
"H-Hi Y/N, I mean hi Normani." I said shyly.
Normani giggled and said, "You look nice today."
"So do you." I said.
I look like a typical lovesick teenager right now. Normani is just breathtaking. Give me that say chocolate any day of the week and I'm good. Mani and I continued our little flirting until my father cleared his throat.
"Normani this is my dad, dad this is Normani." I said.
Normani shook my dad's hand and said, "It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Y/L/N, I see where Y/N gets her good looks from."
"Thank you Normani and please call me John." Dad said.
"Okay. Are you guys ready to order?" Normani asked.
"Yeah. I'll have the scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, toast, and a big stack of pancakes." I said.
"I'll have the same thing minus the pancakes and instead of hash browns I'll have grits." Dad said.
"Okay, will that be all?" Normani asked.
"One more thing Normani. I would like to take you on a date sometime. Do you think you could make that happen?" I asked.
Normani started blushing and said, "Okay Y/N I see you."
Normani walked away and I watched her too. I think I've fallen in love with an angel. I turned back around and my dad was just grinning at me. I just poured the sugar into my coffee and didn't even look at my father. "So that's the girl you've been dreaming about?" Dad asked.
"Maybe." I said before taking a sip of my coffee.
"She's beautiful. Maybe you can invite her over to dinner one night so she we can get to know her better." Dad said.
"I think that can be arranged." I said.
I looked down at my cup of coffee ask then I glanced at my dad's cup, we like both like our coffee black with a lot of sugar. Somehow my dad and I have the strangest things in common but think that what makes us so close. Normani came back with our food and this time she kissed me on the cheek. My father and I talked about sports and stuff while we ate our breakfast. Aunt Viv came by and told my dad how she was to dad and I getting along. Honestly it made me feel good to know that we were getting along.
