Normani's POV
Tonight is a really special night, tonight is Y/N's baseball banquet. The coaches are going to present the players with their rings and we find out who the most valuable player is. I was surprised when Y/N asked me to be her date. I was cool with staying home but Y/N really wanted me to be there so I put on my cute little maternity dress and showed up. Y/N and I's relationship has improved since my little pregnancy scare. We're communicating more and we're spending a lot of time together.
I think my mom played a big part in is getting back together. After my pregnant scare she kicked my father out the house and told him not to come back until he got his shit together. I'm actually glad that my father is gone because he doesn't bother Y/N anymore. But after the way Y/N went in on him at the hospital I think he'll leave her alone.
The ceremony is going well but Y/N keeps looking at the door.
"Baby why do you keep looking at the door?" I asked.
"My dad said he was coming yet he am hasn't showed up. He promised me he would be here." Y/N said.
Y/N looked at her mom and asked, "Where is dad?"
"There was a robbery and they needed him at the crime scene. He said that he was sorry and he'll make it up to you." Lily said.
The look on Y/N's face completely changed. Tonight was a really big night for Y/N and I know that she wanted her father to be there but work got in the way.
"I'm sorry babe." I said.
"I don't even want to be at the wack ass banquet anymore I'm ready to go home." Y/N said.
Y/N's coach walked onstage and he had Dinah, Lauren, and Y/N's cousin Luke with him.
"The Most Valuable Player goes to the player that performs above and beyond the expectations placed on them. They excel not only on the baseball diamond but also in their classrooms, and in their community. The player that's going to receive this award demonstrates all of the things I just said. I met Y/N during her freshman year of high school, she was a tall, annoying freshman that just wanted to play varsity baseball. I admit I was skeptical at first about having a girl try out for the team but I gave her a chance. When I say that my mind was blown I mean it felt like my entire head exploded when I saw Y/N play for the first time. But what I didn't know that Y/N was a package deal at the time. She told me coach of you want me on this team you have to take my best friends too. Dinah and Lauren are great players and you need them on this. Thank God I listen to Y/N. I wish I could get one more season with Y/N but I know that's not how this works. But I do wish her the best of luck when she plays for LSU in the spring." Coach Carter said.
I squeezed Y/N's hand and kissed her on the cheek.
Coach handed Luke the mic and he said, "Y/N is the real MVP but she's also the best cousin in the world. And when I get bigger I want to be just like her."
Y/N smiled at what Luke said about her.
"Y/N Y/L/N you are the Most Valuable Player." Coach Carter said.
Y/N kissed me on the lips and went onstage to receive her plaque. Lauren, Dinah, and Luke each placed a medal on Y/N's neck. Y/N looked at the plaque and smiled.
"I love you Y/N." I yelled out.
Y/N looked up at me and smiled. Lily slid next to me and whispered, "Look my baby up there all nervous."
"It's an honor to be named MVP but I can't take all of the credit for this. It took a lot of hard work, tears and help from others to get to where I am today. I'd like to thank my coaches, teachers, and administrators for helping me become the baseball player and student I am today. To parents thank you for being there and supporting me no matter what. I know that I haven't been the easiest kid to raise but thank you for not giving up on me. Lacey, my sister, I know we fuss and fight but I love you. To my other family members Luke, Ralph, Grandma, Charley, Joey, Micah, Aunt Viv, Uncle Jimmy, thank you all for the love and support you given me over the years. Normani, my boo, my sexy chocolate goddess, the mother of my babies, my future wife, I love you." Y/N said before blowing me a kiss.
