Y/N POV
Today is the big day, today I announce that I'm going to LSU. I've got my entire family here and all the guys on my baseball team there. Both of my parents took off work just to be here for my special day. As awesome as this day is its bittersweet, I wish that my grandpa was here to see this. But I smile because I know my grandpa is looking down on me and he's proud.
Walking into the gym was kind of nerve wrecking. All of those cameras in my face and all those people looking at me make one of the biggest decisions of my life. I've made up my mind already I have to let the entire country know where I'm going. Before I walked into the gym my mom stopped me. She was straightening out my blazer and fixing my hair, making sure that my shirt was tucked in. "Mama relax. I'm gonna be okay." I said.
"Okay Y/N. I just want to let you know that I am so proud of you and wherever you decide to go to college you have my support." Mom said.
"Thank you mama. I promise that I'm going to make you and dad proud." I said.
"Well I'm going to head inside before I start crying. Come baby let's go." My dad said to my mom.
My mom and dad went inside the gym while I stood outside for moment. I looked in the window and saw all of my family there. Lacey, Charley and her husband, Aunt Viv and her husband, Ralph, Luke, my grandma, my mama's parents, and Miss Drea. I really wanted Normani to be there but she didn't show up.
One of the women from the camera crew came outside to check on me. "You nervous sweetheart?" She asked.
"Yes ma'am. All those cameras are kinda scary." I said.
"Oh it's nothing kiddo. You walk in there, smile, put on your hat, then answer all of their questions. It'll be over before you know it." The nice woman said.
"Sounds pretty simple." I said.
"Alright go in there and make your mama proud."
I took a deep breath and walked into the gym. All of my friends and family waves at me and I waved back. Dinah had her phone out and I knew that she was snapchatting the whole thing. I sat down at the table and looked around at everyone. There were three hats on the table, LSU, Alabama, and Florida. There were also the intent letters on the table. Two coaches are about to be very disappointed while the other coach is going to be a happy man by the end of the day.
I just kept a smile on my face and waited for the camera man to give me my cue.
He counted down from three and the spotlight was on me.
"H-Hi, I'd like to you all for coming out today. I really appreciate the support that I've gotten from my family, friends, and coaches throughout this process. I'd also like to thank all of the coaches that showed an interest in me, just having you guys notice me really meant a lot. I've had a lot of time to think about this decision, I've consulted my family and I've prayed about it, a lot, and I've made my decision. If it was possible for me to go to all three of these universities I would but there can only be one. So the university I will be commuting to is..." I said.
I looked up at my parents and they were literally biting their nails.
"Louisiana State University." I said as I put on the LSU hat.
My fans started cheering for me then I signed my letter of intent.
After ESPN did their thing the local news crew that was there wanted to interview me as well. When that was all over for me I was finally able to go be with my family. The first people I hugged were my parents, both of them have been very supportive throughout the process. Then I hugged Dinah and Lauren, those are my girls and I love both of them to death. I can't wait to see what kind of trouble we get into when all of us go to LSU in the fall.
