Laylas POV
The final bell ran releasing me from this prison they call school. I go to my locker, putting in my combination. I grabbed all the books I need, shoving them into my blue tribal print book bag, slinging it over my shoulder and shutting my locker.
"Boo." I screamed, and Andrea laughed. I gave her a glare that I do every time. It never stops her from doing it again.
"Why are you packed up? We have football today, remember?" I sighed.
"My mom's friend is coming over and she said the whole family needs to be there."
"You can't even go for a little bit?" She gave me the puppy dog face.
"Apparently not. I guess it's really serious because she's picking our outfits out and everything. I have a feeling there's a bigger meaning behind this than just dinner."
She smirked, "good luck."
"Thanks," I sarcastically respond, "with her, I'll probably need it."
She laughed, "well I gotta go if I don't want to be late. And since I'm not miss star player I would have to run extra laps." She walked away and I went out the front doors of the school and headed towards the student parking lot. Once I get within sight of Justin's car, I see Katie sitting in the back seat messing with her phone, and Justin and his girlfriend Ali making out.
I cough breaking them apart. "Sorry for breaking this moment up, but we should probably get moving if you don't want Charlie thinking you forgot about him. Again." He glared but gave her one last peck on the lips before climbing in his side of the car. I hopped in the passenger side as he started the car and we headed towards Charlie's school. When we arrived he was sitting on the bench, alone. Justin honked the horn and he looked up quickly before running to the car and jumping in.
"How was school today?" I asked him after he got buckled.
"Good. We got to color and we even had music class today!" He told us practically jumping from excitement. We all chuckled as he kept going on about what he did today at school.
*********
We walked through the front door and mom immediately put us to work tidying up the house. I was in charge of making sure the dining room was clean. I put the ivory table cloth on the long table, and another tablecloth on the smaller table on the side. I placed the plates down next, followed by the napkins and silverware. I made sure that all the silverware was in the right order. Fork, knife, spoon. I get the glasses last setting them in the right side of each plate. Once I checked everything over I went to check in everyone. Justin was done with bathroom duty and had moved upstairs to do home. Katie was finishing the entry way and all the dusting, and Charlie was still straightening up the living room. I smiled, this house hasn't looked good since the incident.
I shudder at the thought, and grab my book bag going upstairs to my room. I grab my algebra text book and start on the problems we were assigned. I finished in record time, but when I looked at the clock I realized that the guests would be here in an hour. I should probably start getting ready. I slowly walked down the stairs and went to the kitchen seeing my mom putting the lasagna in the oven. She turned around after shutting the oven and jumped when she saw me.
"Yes honey?"
"I was wondering where you put my clothes."
"I put all of your clothes in the hall closet upstairs. Would you mind taking them to your brother and sister?" I mumbled a quick response
leaping up the stairs and to the closet. When I opened it there was an amazing surprise.
"MOM! WHEN DID YOU GO SHOPPING!?!?" She chuckled behind me.
"I went last week after work one night. You guys haven't gotten new clothes in a while so I decided to splurge."
"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you." I wrapped her in a tight hug.
"You welcome. Now go get ready and tell everyone to be ready in 45 minutes." I grabbed the 4 hangers and skipped down the hallway to
Justin and Charlie's room, loudly knocking.
"What do you want?"
"These are for you and Charlie, and mom said to be ready in 45 minutes. “He nodded before shutting his door again, I skipped across the hall to Katie and I's room. I squealed walking in. I handed Katie her dress, and hung mine against the door. I go to the vanity plugging in my curling iron, and wait for it to heat up. Once it's ready, I curl my hair to perfection and pull up half my hair leaving it in a half up/half down hairstyle. I then move on to my makeup. I start with eyeliner, doing a slightly thick line and a tiny line on the bottom making my brown eyes pop. I then apply some mascara, coating it on thick, making my eyelashes look super long. Moving away from my eyes, I add a little bit of foundation and add blush to my cheeks. I look at my final masterpiece and am pleased. I looked at the clock and saw that I had 15 minutes to get downstairs and 30 minutes till they arrive. I go to the bathroom, pushing Katie out of the way to brush my teeth. I spit out the extra, washing my mouth out with water before letting Katie finish straightening her hair. I went back to our room and decided to finally look at my dress. It was gorgeous. I slipped it over my head adjusting so it fit just right. I smiled, spinning a few times.
"You look Amazing" Katie exclaimed.
"Thanks" I smirked, "now go put yours on. I wanna see it." I clapped. She chuckled at my excitement but rushed over to her dress and put it on. I went over zipping her up.
"Wow. Hello gorgeous." She smiled turning around and gaping at herself in the mirror. I walked over to my jewelry box and grabbed a black bracelet for each of us. I tossed Katie hers and we both put them on. I then went to my closet and grabbed my pair of plain nude heels, slipping my size 8 feet into them. I gave Katie my plain black ballet flats that I wore today and she put them on. I looked at the clock and saw that we have 5 minutes to spare and we both look amazing.
"Let's go." Katie said turning off the lights. I grabbed my phone from the dresser, and went out the door. When I got to the hallway I saw Justin and Charlie coming out of there room both looking very good. Justin took the time and quiffed Charlie's hair, making him look even more adorable than he already was. Justin had done something different, and side swept his hair making him look very mature. I smirked at them.
"You two are looking good."
"Thanks. " Justin mumbled, becoming embarrassed and walking past me.
"You look very pretty sissy." Charlie came up attacking me legs in a hug. I bent down to his height which is very hard in these heels
"You look very handsome Charlie." I tell him adjusting his bowtie. "Now tonight you have to be extra good. Mom has a friend coming over and its very important to her. So can you try you best to be on you best behavior."
"I promise"
I smile at him, "good. Now let's go see if we can help" I tell him standing up and taking his hand, leading him downstairs. When we get there I see my mother looking beautiful as always, running around doing the finishing touches in the house.
"Everything looks fine." I place my hand on her shoulder, attempting to calm her down.
"I know honey. I just want everything to be perfect."
"It will be." She sighs. Right then the doorbell rang telling us that our guests had arrived. Mom moved to the door, swiftly opening it, and inviting them in.
"These are my kids. Justin, Katie, Charlie, and that's Layla" she told them.
"Well, this is Michael, Ashton, Luke and this would be calum." She stated, smiling.
"Nice to meet you. " I told them shaking each of their hands.
"Are you guys hungry? Would you like to eat?" Each of the boys nodded and we led them to the dining room. Everyone took a seat at the table except Katie and Charlie who were sitting at the side tables and my mum who went to go get the food. I asked if she wanted any help, but she just shooed 's away. Everyone was just sitting there awkwardly, not knowing what to say.
"So Layla, you mother was telling me that you play football, how's you season going?" The lady who I think said her name was Cheryl (not sure what Calums mom's name is. If you do could you please tell me. I will change it.) Asked.
"Great," I smiled. "We are undefeated."
"That's great! When's your next game? I would love to come to one some time."
"Tomorrow actually."
"I'll have to try and go."
"That would be lovely. Thank you." I smiled. My mum walked in carrying the lasagna just then, and handed everybody a piece. She then set a salad in the middle of the table for anybody that wanted. I took a small portion of the salad, adding a little bit of ranch dressing. Everyone dug into their lasagna, which was delicious. Why can't my mom cook like this when there aren't guests here?
"That was amazing. Thank you Ms. Moore." Calum politely thanked her.
"You are very welcome. " She nodded. She started picking up plates, taking then into the kitchen.
"Let me help you with that." Cheryl said, picking up a few plates and moving them to the kitchen.
"Would you guys like to move to the living room?" I asked everyone. They all agreed but Mr. Hood who went to the kitchen to help my mom and Cheryl. Everyone took a seat around the living room and all started different conversations. Justin, calum and Michael were talking about some new band. Ashton, Luke and Charlie were talking about their favorite super heroes and Katie had disappeared, probably to the bathroom. I checked my phone seeing I had a text from Andrea.
From: Andi Baby(:
I hate you! Practice was horrible. Coach made us run extra laps.
I chuckled texting her back.
To: Andi Baby(:
Sorry babe. I don't think my dinner is any better. The only good part, I got a new dress.
I sent it and sat back waiting for her to text me again. My mom, Cheryl and Mr. Hood came in and immediately went to the front of the room.
"We have an announcement." Mr. Hood said.
"We did not get together tonight for just dinner." Cheryl started.
"We have all talked this through and there is no changing our minds." My mom kept it going
"We would like to Congratulate both Layla and Calum." Mr. hood added on.
"For what?" Calum asked probably just as confused as I am.
"You two will be getting married in 4 months!" My mom excitedly told us.
"WHAT!?!?"
