Chapter 36: Amber

--Ally's POV--

I didn't want to get out of bed. I couldn't handle the thought of Amber laying on a hospital bed, sick and dying. It pained me to just think about it. She was smart and beautiful and she had such a great life ahead of her; but that was being taken away from her.

"Ally, love, come on." Zayn woke me up.

"I can't. I can't go and not cry. It's too hard Zayn." I said.

"I know love, I know. Come on, we have to go. I won't be able to see her tomorrow and who knows if she'll be alive when I get back." He said.

"Get back from where?" I asked.

"Nothing. We'll talk about it later." He said.

He wasn't telling me something and I just hoped he wasn't leaving again.

I got up and got in the shower, my eyes puffy and red from all the crying I did last night.

"Ryan, get dressed buddy. We are going to visit someone you haven't exactly met yet." I heard Zayn call to Ryan.

"Okay Daddy." He said, and I hoped into the shower.

It was quick because I didn't want to miss anytime with Amber. I was still mad at myself for missing four years of that girl's life, now it was being cut short.

I pulled on a pair of denim jeans and a knitted sweater because it was getting cold out and I knew hospitals were very cold, considering how much time I had spent in them.

First, giving birth to Ryan.

Then, Zayn's accident.

And now... Amber.

It felt like I was in and out of hospitals... like that's where I belonged. I memorized some of the nurse's daily routines... especially the nurses that took care of me and then Zayn.

"Ready to go?" Zayn asked me... about fifteen minutes later.

"As ready as I'll ever be. I don't think you could ever be ready to see some little girl you know and love, laying on a hospital bed... dying." I said, my eyes watery.

"I know... but we have to try and be strong... for her." Zayn said.

"I know... I know." I said.

"I love you babe." He said.

"I love you too, love." I said.

--AT THE HOSPITAL--

"Can we go in now?" Zayn asked Perrie.

"Yes of course." Perrie said.

"Zayn! Ally! Ry-" Amber greeted us and then started having a cough attack.

"Do you need water?" Zayn asked her.

"Yes that would be nice. RYAN!" She greeted.

It was unbelievable to me that she was laughing and smiling even though she had so much going on in her life at the moment.

"How are you love?" I asked her.

"Well besides being stuck here with nothing to do, I'd say I'm doing pretty good. I'm breathing... for now at least... but you guys are here so I'm happy." Amber said.

"Thank you." She said, when Zayn handed her a cup of water.

He just nodded his head.

"I missed you so much." I said.

"I missed you too. I always wanted to ask Perrie if I could stay the night or something but I never got around to asking." She said.

"Same with me, I always wanted to ask Perrie if you could come over because I didn't have your number personally, but I never came around to it." I shared.
