Chapter 22

I wake up and everything from last night comes rushing back to me.

I kicked Luke out of my house.

I did it for the right reason though, I couldn't let him push me around and do whatever he wanted me to. I really wish that he was here with me. I only went to sleep last night because I had cried myself to sleep. I hear my phone ring and it's Luke singing 'Beside You', and I start to feel a pain in my chest that hurts like heck. I look at the receiver and answer it.

"Hello this is Katrina Walker speaking. How may I help you?" I say in my normal business tone as I get out of bed and walk down into the kitchen. "Yes. This is Jocelyn Humberg, and I was wondering if you could cater a wedding that I'm having? I'll pay you triple the usual amount, but the wedding is today." She says and my eyes widen in shock and I nod my head before I take a deep breath. "Yes ma'am. I can do that. What type of wedding are you going for?" I quickly answer and she breaths a sigh of relief. "Thank you so much! The wedding is going to be 'A weekend in Paris' theme." She says and I nod my head as I start to write this down. "Okay. Are there any special requests, or any health allergies that I should know about?" I ask and wait for her to answer. "There aren't any allergies or request. You have control over the entire menu." She says and I break into a smile. "Okay. When will the wedding be?" I ask and wait for her reply. "It starts at four 'o clock  (4:00) today. And I need you here as close to that as you can. I also need a four tier cake." She says and I nod my head. "Okay. I'll be there with the food." I say and I can hear her relax over the phone. "Thank you so much and I'll see you here soon." She says and we both hang the phone up. I take a deep breath before I send a text message to all (three) of my friends.

Me: Hey guys can you all come to my house and bring the boys too. I really need your help.

I wait for only a few seconds when I hear my phone bing-bong, letting me know that I've got a new message from the girls.

Lilac: I'm on my way with Michael!

Amanda: Ashton and I will be there soon!

Kahlen: Michael and I will be there soon, and we're bringing Luke? Is that okay?

I read the last text and sigh to myself before I text Kahlen back.

Me: It's okay if you bring him. I need to face him anyway. I'll see you here.

I start to plan a menu and send Lilac a text telling her what I need from the store.

{About an hour later...}
"We're here!" I hear people call out as I continue to pace. I see Luke walk through the door and he looks heartbroken. His eyes look dead, and he looks lifeless. I just want to wrap my arms around his neck and pull him close to me and promise him that everything's going  between us, but I know that I can't. "Thank you so much for coming you guys. I really need your help with something." I say and they nod their heads. "We're ready to help you with anything that you need, Kat." Lilac says and I feel a pang in my chest. "Thanks you guys. I've been asked to cater a wedding and I need help. The wedding starts at four 'o clock (4:00)." I say and their eyes widen in shock before they nod their heads. "Well let's get to work." Kahlen says and I give them a huge grin that doesn't quite reach my eyes. "Then let's get to work." I say before we start to plan.
