This is a one-shot dedicated to LookOutForNargles. Your Secret Santa would like to say "Surprise! I'm your Secret Santa! I have not stopped writing this since it was assigned. I hope you like this.

***I'm really really sorry! I didn't check the original comment until I got over 3,000 words into the story and I didn't know that you had asked for a specific OC, so I wasn't sure if I should completely get rid of this one or try to edit it! I'm going to put your character in this one-shot but she won't be the main character, she'll be related to him.

Again, really sorry! I hope you like this!***"

Garth Elias laughed at his best friend's antics as they relaxed by the Black Lake, enjoying their time now that classes were over for the day. It was cold, seeing as it was the middle of December, but it seemed everyone was out to enjoy the snow that day. Although they were all making sure to avoid the snowball fight Potter, Black, Lupin, and Pettigrew had started.

"I don't think she fancies you very much, Anton," Garth told Anton Moyer.

"Nonsense," Anton said pompously, untying his red and gold scarf dramatically. "It just takes dedication."

"You've been dedicating yourself for over a year," Garth pointed out. He could see his breath streaming out of his mouth in large clouds. "I really don't think she's interested." Anton just smirked, his dark eyes sparkling brightly, as if he were saying 'Just watch.'

"Marlene McKinnon!" he bellowed to the girl who was sitting next to her best friend a ways away. "I love you!"

"I love the thought of you face planting in dragon dung!" was her instant reply. Garth snickered, and he could see that Marlene's friend mirrored his action.

"I would stay by your side forever!" Anton was undeterred.

"If you were by my side, I'd shove you in the lake!" Marlene answered. Anton turned back to Garth, a wide grin on his face.

"See? She's smitten," Anton told Garth proudly.

"I think you're a bit turned around, mate," Garth shook his head, swiping his blond hair out of his face. Anton refused to be shot down as he leaned back on his elbows. The dark skin on his face was tinged slightly red from the cold.

"Loyal Hufflepuffs my foot," Anton teased him. "You'd think my best mate would be a little more supportive when it came to the woman I'm going to marry."

"We're loyal, not stupid," Garth told him.

"Whatever," Anton said, and then changed the subject. "You spending Christmas with me again?"

"Yeah. Anywhere's better than with my bloody sister and her husband," Garth said bitterly. "Is your cousin going to be there again?"

"Is yours?" Anton asked, referring to Garth's cousin, Eleanor Rose.

"Yes. Your mother fawn over her again. Now is your cousin coming or not?"

"You mean Kingsley?" Anton shot Garth a sideways look. "Yeah. I think so. Moody is supposed to give him Christmas off this year. Why do you ask?"

Garth shrugged. "I enjoy the stories he tells. I think I'd like to be an Auror."

"Well, if that's what you want to be, I'm going to be that, too," Anton told him.
